Is the Thar Roxx’s wheel hop issue making it unsafe for daily driving?
In recent videos that are making their rounds online, the Mahindra Thar Roxx has been seen developing a wheel hop phenomenon while reversing at high RPMs. The issue has given potential buyers and those owning the vehicle sufficient cause for worry that, should it develop, it will make the vehicle unsafe to use on a daily basis. The Roxx's suspension setup and weight distribution is to blame for the wheel hop, some say it's just the way these things are, while others say it's a huge flaw. But there remains debate over whether this is only an issue in super extreme scenarios in which very few drivers find themselves, or whether this could ever make its way into normal driving scenarios — particularly in a time of emergency for which an emergency reversal of your vehicle’s acceleration would be most appropriate.
It is not unsafe, just a suspension characteristic. You won't find this in normal driving.
I think it's a serious issue. But what if you need to reverse quickly in an emergency?
This is something Mahindra needs to sort. While it may not be unsafe, it is certainly worrying for a 25 lakh vehicle.
People are overreacting. Many 4x4s do this and it’s not a safety issue if you drive sensibly.
That's a design flaw that Mahindra should correct. It’s not unsafe, but it’s annoying and shouldn’t happen in a modern vehicle.
