Is the Tata Intra V70's payload capacity worth the extra money compared to competitors?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Tata Intra V70 has more payload capacity than many of its competitors in the small commercial vehicle segment. But it comes at a premium price point. The question among potential buyers and fleet operators is whether the extra payload is worth the higher up front cost. Others claim that the added capacity makes for more efficient trips and higher potential earnings, but others say the price differential is too steep for the marginal payload increase. It also mentions elements of the total cost of ownership (TCO) over the lifetime of the vehicle: fuel efficiency, maintenance cost and resale value. The question of how to answer this question leads to a discussion about the economics of commercial vehicle operations and the trade offs between capacity, cost, and long term value.

The real value is in versatility. That extra payload provides you with options of different types of cargo which may open up new business opportunities.

As a fleet operator, I’d say just the reliability would be worth it. Tata’s commercial vehicles are built to last; therefore, less downtime.

I believe people are discounting the resale value. Tata vehicles retain their value well so you will get some of your extra cost back when you sell.

The nice thing about the higher payload is that the fuel efficiency numbers are atrocious! So you may end up spending more on diesel than you save on trips.

It depends on what you need. If you're already running out of payload on the vehicle you have now, the V70 makes a lot of sense. Otherwise, it might be too much.

Not for small businesses. The upfront cost is too high and you don’t always need that extra capacity. It’s better to go for the cheaper option.

Absolutely worth it. It translates into fewer trips, which saves on fuel and time down the road. It'll pay for itself.
