Is the Staria's unique design at the expense of being a functional minivan?

The family vehicle Hyundai Staria is a futuristic vehicle that stands out from a traditional minivan, but how does such a vehicle perform its primary function? Finally, minivans tend to be prized for their practicality, with amenities such as sliding doors, flexible seating and lots of stowage space. The Staria's looks could make some of these typical minivan strengths no more. An example would be that the sloping front end might affect front storage space, and a body shape unique to that company might alter the ease of loading and unloading of passengers or cargo. And how does the interior space work with the unusual exterior design? But the Staria could also possibly imbue design with new functional benefits that traditional minivans don't have. It's a fine line between innovation and practicality that could either shake up minivan segment or turn off traditional minivan buyers.

If it has sliding doors and flexible seating, it's still a minivan. The design is just a bonus.

In fact, the unique design may actually bring more people to minivans who would otherwise buy SUVs. It’s making the segment cool again.

What worries me is the practicality of cleaning all those curves and crevices in the body design. Keeping up with it might be a pain.

In some ways, the design actually improves functionality. It’s got big windows, so it’s easy to keep an eye on kids in the back.

It's a trade-off. Losing some traditional minivan features, you get a more enjoyable driving experience.

So I think it does compromise some functionality. But the front end looks like it wastes a lot of potential cargo space.

Not at all! Even more, the design actually enhances functionality with a better view and more open feel inside.
