Is the Mahindra XUV.e9 three screen dashboard overkill or a game changer?

Futuristic dashboard with three large screens for instrument cluster, infotainment, and front passenger display is what will be on the Mahindra XUV.e9. This is the first time an Indian made electric vehicle is getting a setup like this, which is reminiscent of high end luxury EVs. Sure, it looks impressive; it’s definitely wow factor, but whether it is practical, or just a gimmick, is up for debate. It's argued by some that it could be distracting to the driver, but to others it's a leap forward in the world of in car technology. The passenger screen is said to be invisible to the driver, and has a privacy function. Second, there is the question of how durable such a complex system would be, and how much it would cost to maintain in Indian driving conditions. What do you think Indian consumers would make of this feature, and how will this help the XUV.e9 stand out among its peers?

It's definitely overkill. Three screens is just asking for trouble. One good screen is good enough. More things to break and break your attention while driving.

I think it's awesome! An Indian car which can compete with Tesla on tech. This will make long drives way more fun.

Mixed feelings. I worry about glare and nighttime driving, but cool factor is high. I hope they have thought it through.

It seems like a waste of resources. It could've gone into better range or performance. The passenger doesn’t need a screen, does he?

If done well, it’s a game changer. Just think about navigation, entertainment, car controls. If the UI isn’t top notch though, the project is going to fail.

I am worried about repair costs. Will you have to replace the whole system if one screen goes bad? It could be a nightmare out of warranty.

It's forward-thinking. Perhaps a bit overkill now, but in a few years, this will be the standard. Mahindra is just ahead of the curve.
