Is the i20's sunroof really useful or is it just a gimmick?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views8 comments
Since the introduction of the Hyundai i20, the sunroof has been a major talking point. Its inclusion in the i20 has divided opinion in the Indian market where that feature is usually considered a premium one. For a few buyers, it’s one more thing that raises the car’s allure and contributes to a sense of spaciousness. Some say that it is impractical in Indian climate and may reduce structural rigidity. It also tends to spill over into debates about heat management, maintenance costs, and whether the sunroof actually affects buying decisions. This is now a symbol of the larger discussion about what features actually add value in cars in this segment.

It's 70% gimmick, 30% useful. Nice to have, but not necessary. But it does make the car feel more upmarket.

It's not only about being practical. A lot of buyers will like the fact that the sunroof adds to the car’s aesthetic appeal.

I think it's overrated. That money could be used for a better sound system, or better tires.

For me, it's a must-have. Ventilation of the car is quick and the overall experience is good. And it’s a good selling point if you ever want to resell.

I wouldn't pay extra for it, but it's a nice to have. Not a deal breaker if a variant doesn't have it, but definitely.

I love having a sunroof. I think it's not practical, but it provides a feel good factor that you can't quantify.

Pure gimmick in our climate. Most of the year it's too hot to use, and it's just one more thing that can go wrong.

It's totally worth it! It opens up the cabin and makes it a little bit more premium. It’s also great for stargazing on night drives.
