Is the Bobber 838 a turning point for Royal Enfield’s reputation?

As a company, Royal Enfield has long been known for making simple, reliable, affordable motorcycles. This has garnered them a loyal fanbase, but it has also meant they’re seen as a bit old fashioned or lacklustre in more advanced markets. The Bobber 838 is a world away from this image, showing off advanced technology and premium design. But this move upmarket could be a double edged sword. On the other hand, it can elevate Royal Enfield’s image and get the company a whole new type of customer. But on the other it would alienate their core fanbase who still love the brand for what it is: simple and approachable. The question also remains: Can Royal Enfield deliver the level of quality and performance at a higher price point? The Bobber 838’s success, or failure, could have serious implications for how Royal Enfield is viewed in the wider global motorcycle market.

I'm just worried it'll price out a lot of RE fans. I hope they don’t lose sight of what made them popular in the first place.

Seeing RE break boundaries is exciting. There are not enough risk takers in the motorcycle industry.

Quality control will be the real test. If the Bobber is reliable it could alter perceptions of RE.

Diversification is a smart move, but don’t forget where you came from. The Bullets and the Classics have to coexist with the Bobber.

RE really needs to step up their game about time. They show they can innovate and compete with the big boys with the Bobber.

They're selling out. The charm of RE is its simplicity — this is just trying too hard.

For RE, it’s a make-or-break moment. If they get this right, they'll be viewed as a serious premium brand.
