Is the Bajaj Platina 100 ES's reputation for reliability any different now?

The Bajaj Platina has been known to be a reliable bike and most of the owners have been using the bike trouble free for years. But lately reports about the bike's dependability have been mixed. Other owners say newer models aren't built to the same standards as older ones, including problems with electrical components and engine performance. But many argue that the Platina has not lost its reliability, rather the rise in expectations from the consumer is making it appear less reliable. As the perception of the Platina's reliability changes, it is unclear if Bajaj has changed its manufacturing processes, if increased competition has forced the company to cut costs or if the Indian consumer's definition of 'reliable' has itself changed over time. Whether real or perceived, this shift in reputation could be a game changer for Bajaj in one of the most fiercely competitive segments — the commuter.

The problem is not with the bike, it's the dealers. The Platina is getting a bad name because of poor PDI and service.

Real talk, even if there’s a little less reliability, the Platina is one of the most reliable bikes in its class.

I think the reputation has been hit because the bikes are not worse, but rather because the competition has set the bar higher on reliability.

Bajaj’s still bulletproof with the basic engine, but there’s more to fail now. It's a modernity versus simplicity trade off.

It’s still reliable, but you’ve got to take care of it. These days people expect bikes to run forever without care.

I work in a garage and we're getting more new Platinas in for repair than we used to. It's changed, and not for the good.

We have changed our expectations but the reliability is still there. What we thought of as 'reliable' 10 years ago is not the same any more.

Noticed definitely definitely definitely a drop in quality. My old one never did, but my new Platina has had electrical issues. It looks like Bajaj is cutting corners.

I’ve had my 2023 Platina for a year now and it’s been just as reliable as my dad’s 2010 model, so far. I think people are more vocal about things now.
