Is the Bajaj Discover 100M really 'bulletproof' or is it just hype?
Some riders have developed a reputation about the Bajaj Discover 100M, that they are incredibly durable and reliable and can go over 1.5 lakh kilometers without any major issues. But others say it's just marketing hype and the bike has its share of problems. Affordable commuter motorcycles in India are a topic that often brings up this debate. Perceptions are very dependent on factors such as maintenance, riding conditions, and individual experiences. The simple design and reputation for easy repair have won it some admirers, or maybe detractors who are the first to admit that problems with certain parts have become something of an issue. There are still discussions among both bike commuters and enthusiasts whether it really is worthy of the "bulletproof" label.
Last month my Discover 100M hit 1.2 lakh km and is running like a champ. Just normal oil changes and normal maintenance. Can't kill this thing!
Bulletproof? No, more like it survives with battle scars. I'm at 80k km and already had to change the chain set twice. Decent bike, but not invincible.
Everything’s about how you handle it. At 50k my cousin thrashed his and it died. At 90k, it's smooth sailing and I baby mine. Maintenance is key!
Overhyped for sure. I had constant issues with the electrical system on mine. After 2 years I sold it and got a Honda. Much happier now.
It's not bulletproof, I'd say it's tough. Overall mine's been reliable but the suspension needed work at around 70k km. Still, great value for money.
I was a mechanic and these bikes have come in with stupid miles on them. Parts are cheap and they're simple to fix. Not perfect, but definitely above average reliability.
For 6 years now my dad has been using one for his milk delivery business. It’s that thing that has been driven around on rural roads and keeps going. That’s pretty impressive if you ask me.
