Is the Aprilia SXR 160 dated in 2025, and is it still worth buying?
The Indian market has seen a lot of changes since the Aprilia SXR 160 made its way in since some time now. With the electric scooter and new maxi scooter entrants, there are some riders who might be wondering if the SXR 160 still cuts the mustard. The time has been there for the build quality, performance, and after sales service to prove themselves, and the competitors to catch up or overtake the Aprilia’s offerings. Furthermore, in the context of changing urban mobility needs and rising interest in sustainability, the relevance of a premium petrol powered scooter in 2025 needs to be discussed. Is the SXR 160 behind the times with updates and improvements or are we seeing the old age of the 160 compared to newer options?
In 2025, I honestly believe the SXR 160 is still a good option. Sure, it’s not the flashiest option out there, but there’s just something timeless about Italian design that doesn’t go out of style. Plus, Aprilia has been nice and good about rolling out small updates to keep it competitive.
No, it is definitely outdated now. With all the new electric options which have popped up, spending that much on a petrol scooter just doesn't make sense anymore. It’s a hard sell when you consider the running costs alone.
But if you’re after a dependable all rounder, I’d say it’s still worth it. For longer rides or places with little to no charging infrastructure, the SXR 160 is still hard to beat, but for city use, electric scooters do work just fine.
I bought one in 2023 and it’s held up well. If I was buying now, I would probably look at newer options. Now, the tech features are starting to feel a little bit dated.
It's a mixed bag. It may not be the most advanced car on the road, but the build quality and ride comfort are still excellent, and it's just becoming more noticeable that it lacks modern connectivity features. If Aprilia doesn't update soon it could find itself falling behind.
It wouldn't surprise me if it’s still relevant, especially for people who aren’t ready to go electric. It’s hard to find a newer model that has the same combination of style and practicality as the SXR 160. Tried and true is sometimes better than cutting edge.
Outdated for sure. When it launched, it performed great, but these days there are cheaper options with similar or better specs. You're better off spending your money on other things in 2025, unless you really like the brand.
It’s out of date in some way, but that’s not always a bad thing. But it’s refreshing to see a SXR 160 that’s simple compared to some of the new scooters that have become overly complicated. Not every one needs or wants a two wheeled smartphone.
It’s still worth considering but perhaps not at full price. It’s still a capable and stylish ride if you can get a good deal on one. It won't be as techy as the latest and greatest, but don't expect it to.
I still consider it relevant as a 2024 buyer. Recent OBD2 update has kept it current with emissions norms and the classic design doesn't make it look outdated. It’s more about personal preference than it is about objective superiority.
