Is Mahindra mismanaging Thar Roxx production, or are the long waiting periods justified?

by @ashutosh.kumarover 1 year ago0 views5 answers
Since its launch, the Mahindra Thar Roxx has created quite a buzz and reports say that the bookings have been in thousands within hours of the opening of the bookings. But this popularity has meant waiting periods are extremely long, with some customers being told to expect more than a year for delivery. The bills that reflect these extended wait times have sparked debate in some quarters as to whether or not there genuinely is a bottleneck in Mahindra's production and supply chain or if the company is just mismanaging. But others say the long waits are proof of the Roxx's popularity and of Mahindra's stubborn insistence on quality over quantity. Some think that Mahindra should have been ready for the demand, especially when they have such a hit with the regular Thar. But the discussion also includes if these wait times will ultimately hurt the Roxx's sales as potential buyers seek out more readily available alternatives.

Popular new models are often plagued with long wait times. But it's frustrating, and not unusual in the Indian market.

Production was still being affected by the semiconductor shortage. Mahindra is not to blame entirely.

Maybe Mahindra is making artificial scarcity to keep the hype going. It's a marketing tactic.

It's just high demand. It takes time to make quality and I’d rather wait for a quality built vehicle than a rushed one.

Wait times are ridiculous. There was no reason for Mahindra to have not anticipated the demand and planned better.
