Is Hyundai Tucson's soft suspension a boon or a bane?
It’s been known for years for its comfortable ride thanks to its soft suspension setting. However, despite this making for a comfortable ride when running on smooth roads and helps smoothing out bumps and potholes, some drivers complain that it's too floaty. However, this suspension tuning can give you more body roll in corners, and less engaging feel, for those who prefer something sportier. Also, the soft setup may not be the best for fully loaded trips or for towing. On the flip side, it’s great for daily commutes and long highway drives in poor road conditions. The question at hand is whether or not this comfort oriented approach is the right thing to do for a modern crossover SUV, or if there should be an option for a sportier suspension for those looking for a more dynamic driving experience.
The soft suspension is absolutely love! The pothole filled city streets that I commute on every day are perfect for this. If you just want to get to work comfortably, who needs a stiff sports car?
I get the comfort angle, but I wish Hyundai had the sport tuned suspension option. Body roll in corners can be a little much, depending on what you’re used to.
I'm torn on this. I appreciated the comfort, but I’ve found it a bit floaty on highway on ramps and quick lane changes. Perhaps a slightly firmer setup would be a good middle ground?
The Tucson's suspension is a dream for someone who upgraded from an older, more stiff riding SUV. Every time I drive over a speed bump, my back thanks Hyundai!
I believe it has to do with where you live. It's perfect in areas with rough roads. If you’re in a place with smooth highways and twisty backroads, however, you might wish for a bit more control.
The soft suspension is great until you load up the car for a road trip. It begins to become a bit wallowy. I just wish they’d have an adaptive suspension option.
