In the fast changing e-scooter market, how future proof is the Aftek Elmo?

by Sukhmandeep Kaurover 1 year ago0 views10 comments
The electric scooter industry is moving fast and new models and technologies are coming out all the time. What is the Aftek Elmo’s competitive edge for the years ahead? Are there any innovations or trends on the horizon to make the existing model obsolete? And what about software updates, and long term support from the manufacturer? How does it compare on resale potential with other e scooters? So let’s examine whether the Elmo is a solid long term investment or whether potential buyers would be better off waiting for the next big thing in electric mobility.

I have confidence the Elmo will last because of the build quality. I'd rather have a good current gen scooter than an upcoming scooter with reliability issues.

The high end e scooter resale market is still pretty new. If you want to upgrade in a year or two it might be hard to recoup much of your investment.

And remember about changing regulations! Be sure that the Elmo is in compliance with your local e scooter laws, which seem to be getting more strict in some places.

I’m watching solid state batteries. Then, in a few years, if those become mainstream the Elmo's range might start to look pretty weak.

Nice modular design for repairs, but don't know how it compares to newer unibody designs overall for durability. Only time will tell, I guess.

E-scooters are still very much a wild west, honestly. I would rather have something reliable like the Elmo now and then wait for the promised future tech which might never materialize.

Already the lack of connectivity features like app integration feels a bit dated. But I wish they'd release a firmware update with some smart functionality.

The Elmo is pretty solid in basic design. I don’t see any revolutionary changes coming to e scooters that will make it obsolete tomorrow. It should last for years.

Long term parts availability worries me. They are a new player and if they go under we could be left with expensive paperweights.

Future proofing with the swappable battery on the Elmo is a big plus. If battery tech improves you may be able to upgrade without replacing the whole scooter.
