In 2025, is the FZ6R's lack of modern electronics a drawback, or a benefit?
The FZ6R is a relatively simple motorcycle with regard to electronics and, as motorcycle technology advances, has become a debated topic among riders. Ride by wire throttles, multiple riding modes, traction control and advanced ABS systems are beginning to appear on newer bikes by 2025. But the FZ6R is the opposite — a more basic, low tech bike. As a result, there have been debates as to whether having no modern electronics is a negative in terms of safety and performance, or a positive in terms of simplicity and reliability. Advanced electronics for bikes are essential for getting the most out of a bike and being safe says some riders, while others say that they can be a distraction and a point of failure. This frequently includes the riding experience, maintenance cost, and the philosophy of what makes it enjoyable to ride. Both high tech and simpler bikes are described by riders who share their experiences with these two types of bikes.

The electronics keep the price down, both for the purchase and the maintenance. For riders on a budget but who still want a bike that can do the job, it's a great option.

Modern electronics can be a real lifesaver for beginners, but it's fine for experienced riders. In 2025, the FZ6R might not be the best new rider choice.

I've ridden high tech bikes, and simple bikes, and I always end up back on the simple ones. It's pure and something new bikes have lost.

If you don’t think you need a computer to enjoy riding, take a look at the FZ6R. It's just how rider and machine connect, and sometimes less is more.

It's a double-edged sword. You sacrifice some safety features, but you also don't have to put up with software updates and electronic gremlins all the time.

In 2025, if you don’t have at least traction control and cornering ABS it’s just irresponsible. It’s behind the times and the FZ6R shows it.

I love the simplicity. Instead, you actually have to learn to ride properly, instead of relying on electronics to save you. In the long run, it makes you a better rider.

It's a major drawback. Modern electronics make bikes easier and safer to ride at the limit. The FZ6R is dangerous in comparison.

In 2025, the best thing about the FZ6R is that it has no electronics. Not a complicated system to fail, simply pure analog riding. It's refreshing.
