How have Japanese rivals performed in terms of reliability in the Hyundai Venue, or long run?

Many car buyers are worried about reliability, and when you're considering Korean brands that have not always had the best reputation in the past, this is even more important. We’ve got a few years of the Venue on the market now, so we’re getting a picture of its long term reliability. How has it held up over time? Do owners have any common issues? Now let's see what real world experiences owners with 3+ years or high mileage on their Venues have to say. How do maintenance costs and frequency compare, to, say, the Japanese competitors like the Honda WR-V or the Maruti Suzuki Brezza? What are the things that have been particularly robust or problematic and components or systems that have been proven so far? From engine reliability to electronic gremlins, this could be all of it.

Dealer service quality can be hit or miss, but reliability's been good. Some were frustrating, some were great. It is here where brands like Maruti can capitalize on their huge service network.

The Venue has been a champ for me, 80,000 km, mostly highway and it's still running like new. A lot of it depends on how well you keep it.

Dependable, but not as solid feeling as the Japanese cars I’ve owned. The little things have started cropping up sooner than I care to admit.

Before the Venue, I was skeptical on Hyundai reliability, but my Venue has proven me wrong, 60,000 km and counting without any issues except regular wear and tear. And the maintenance costs have been reasonable as well.

My experience has been mixed. It runs great but I've had to replace the clutch sooner than I thought I would. Maybe it's my driving style, but it feels premature to what my old Honda was.

I’ve had the engine and transmission and been mostly reliable, with some annoying electrical niggles (nothing major, just things like the infotainment glitching once in a while). Here Japanese cars may have an edge.

I've had my Venue 3 years now and have had little to no problems. Everything was routine maintenance, no major issues. It's far from problematic, but it's not quite Toyota level bulletproof.
