How good is the FZS Deluxe’s fuel efficiency as claimed by Yamaha?
Many Indian bike buyers are concerned about fuel efficiency and Yamaha has promoted the FZS Deluxe as a fuel efficient offering in its segment. Still though, actual fuel consumption in the real world often isn’t what the manufacturer claims, and owners and potential buyers argue. The bike’s mileage in city traffic, highway cruising and mixed usage in various conditions is being shared by riders. There are some who report figures not far off, or even above, Yamaha's claims while others are disappointed with the actual efficiency they are getting. The chat often consists of comparing the bike to other bikes in the segment and tips for riding techniques that will help you get the most fuel economy.

Of course, the claimed figures are achievable, if you really try. For normal, stress free riding you should expect about 10% less.

It's efficient and I just wish they had put a bigger fuel tank in it. Long rides are annoying with all the refills.

It turns out to be quite efficient, actually. The fuel cost difference comes from a Pulsar.

It's got good fuel efficiency but I do feel like it's dropped a bit after the first year. Might need a tune-up.

It's all about how you ride. With a gentle hand on the throttle and higher gears, I’ve been able to squeeze out 55 kmpl.

On the highway I find it very fuel efficient, but in the city the mileage suffers. But still better than most of the 160cc bikes.

But the mileage is decent, nothing special. The old Honda CB Unicorn was more efficient.

It's actually spot on for me. City riding sees me getting close to 45-50 kmpl consistently. Just need to ride sensibly.

Not even close! I’ll get about 15-20% less than what Yamaha advertises. Pretty disappointing.
