Does the i20’s infotainment system actually work, or is it just pretty?

One of the most talked about features of the Hyundai i20 is its infotainment system featuring a large touchscreen connected to a whole host of functions. But the debate rages on as to whether it’s really user friendly or just a case of style over substance. Some like its feature set or responsiveness, some think it’s too cluttered or distracting. It typically also treads into territory of the balance between physical buttons and touchscreen controls, the intuitiveness of the interface or how it compares to competing systems in rival cars. It’s a topic that comes up a lot in owner forums and review discussions, since the infotainment system is a primary point of interaction for a daily driver.

Not a bad system for its class, but that's not saying much. In general, car infotainment is still playing catch up to the smartphone.

The system is good, but no physical climate controls is a huge miss. It’s annoying to have to use the touchscreen for everything.

As a tech geek, I love it. I can see how it might be too much for some people but I can see it. It's definitely a learning curve.

It’s not really about anything. In daily use simpler systems, such as in the Swift, are easier to use, but they look good in the showroom.

I think it's a good balance. It's not overloaded with features, but it's feature packed. The physical shortcut buttons help a lot.

It’s flashy for sure, but not that intuitive. The touch only controls and too many sub menus are distracting while driving.

Once you get used to it, it's pretty user friendly. The menus are logical and the screen responds. Plus, it looks great!
