Do some owners claim the Bajaj Platina 100 ES is really the 'king of mileage'?
Bajaj Platina 100 ES gets fairly good review on this front as there are many owners who manage more than 90 kmpl. But there's a lot of debate as to whether these numbers are realistic, or just marketing hype. There are some users who claim that they experience a huge drop in their mileage after a few months of use, and other users who swear by it even after years of ownership. Fuel economy can vary widely and is dependent on riding style, maintenance and road conditions. And there's the question of whether to ignore other aspects of the riding experience in favor of just mileage. But that's enough of what we think about Platina mileage, let's jump into what real world Platina owners have to say about their mileage experiences and whether this bike actually deserves the fuel sipping crown.
I've had this Platina for 2 years now and I'm always getting around 80-85 kmpl in the city. This isn't the 90+ that Bajaj claims but it's still pretty damn good. The only thing you need to do is ride sensibly and take care of regular maintenance.
King of mileage? More like king of disappointment. Within 6 months my mileage dropped from 85 to barely 60 kmpl. Bajaj's quality control is a laughing stock.
Guys, you can't expect miracles. It is fantastic if you can go even 60-70 kmpl of most bikes out there. If you keep it right, the Platina delivers solid efficiency.
I definitely think that the title of the 'king of mileage' is well earned. For last over a year, I have been getting 90+ kmpl consistently. The trick is to ride smooth and not to accellerate unnecessarilly.
To be real, mileage isn't everything. I would rather have a bike with better performance and comfort that delivers 60 kmpl than extract every drop of fuel from a gutless commuter.
It's all about expectations. If you buy the Platina, have 100 kmpl in mind, you will be disappointed. However, if you're happy with 70-80 kmpl (which is still great) you'll love this bike.
The mileage claims are real, but only if you're willing to ride like a grandma. It’s painfully slow and not worth the hassle in city traffic, but I can get 90+ kmpl.
