Could the Flying Flea’s compact size and peculiar styling attract a new demographic for Royal Enfield?
While Royal Enfield has traditionally appealed to riders that prefer larger, more imposing and old school styled motorcycles, it has never been a brand that has been the first choice for the masses. One exception is the Flying Flea with it's compact dimensions and futuristic styling. That brings up some questions about RE's target market for this new model. The bike’s size and electric powertrain could make the bike more attractive to urban commuters, younger riders or those new to motorcycling. It also has the advantage of looking unlike anything else on the road, and may appeal to design enthusiasts or techy consumers who might not have thought to look to a Royal Enfield. But, there is also the risk that this new direction will alienate RE’s existing customer base. Whether the Flying Flea's success hinges on its ability to pick up enough new riders to make up for any drop in interest in RE from its traditional fans will be the key. Furthermore, the position of the bike in terms of price and performance vis a vis other electric two wheelers in the market will determine how various demographics will receive the bike.

Demographics aren’t everything, it’s about mindset. This is for people who want to be different.

It would appeal to older riders too I think, as they will find big bikes harder to ride now.

Price will be key. With college students and young professionals, if it's affordable, it could be huge.

It’s too polarizing stylistically. But it’ll attract some and turn off many others.

It's a smart move by RE. If they want to stay relevant in the future, they need to diversify.

I believe it will appeal more to tech geeks than to your traditional bikers. It's like a two wheeled gadget.

It might be a great way to encourage more women to ride. Plus, it has low seat height and easy handling.

Hardcore RE fans aren't going to go for this. It's too different for what they're accustomed to.

Definitely! It's great for the young urban riders who don't want anything too complicated but would like something that is a bit cool.
