Can the Maruti NEXA Jimny EV really be an off-roader, or is it just another city SUV in disguise?

In its petrol avatar, the Jimny has a legendary reputation of being a capable off roader. With the shift to electric, however, there is worry that it will not perform as well in rough terrain. Batteries add weight, there's the potential for range anxiety in remote areas, and it doesn't have a traditional 4x4 system, so there are a lot of questions about its off road credentials. To counter that though, electric motors provide instant torque, which could be a useful factor in rock crawling. The silent operation would also add to the wilderness experience. The downsides, however, are the lack of a manual transmission and the fact that an EV is a pain in the patootie to repair in the middle of nowhere. Can the Jimny EV live up to its predecessor’s legacy, or will it become another urban runabout with a tough appearance?

But still, it’s a Jimny at heart! With electric motor instant torque it'll be a beast on steep inclines. And you won’t have to worry about stalling in tricky situations anymore.
