As a tall beginner rider, how does the KTM 250 Adventure compare to the Duke 250?
Tall riders with little motorcycling experience may find it difficult to choose between the KTM 250 Adventure and the Duke 250. However, both bikes have the same engine, but the ergonomics and usage are completely different. Taller riders may find the Adventure's more upright riding position and higher ground clearance appealing. But the Duke is famed for its light handling and sporty character. In addition, seat height, handlebar position, and overall bike dimensions all have an impact on rider comfort and confidence, especially for a beginner. So let’s dive into how these two KTM siblings fare against one another for a tall novice rider needing to make their first big bike purchase.

Don't let your height blind you to the Duke! I am 6'3, and I love my Duke 250. It's a little weird to get used to, but the small size is so fun flicking around corners. Plus, it’s a lot easier to flat-foot at stops, which is nice for beginners.

Both are great bikes, but honestly if you’re a tall beginner, the Adventure might be more forgiving. The more relaxed riding position also helps you not to put too much weight on your wrists, which is an issue for new riders on the more aggressive Duke.

I'd say go for the adventure. It's more versatile, and as a tall rider, you'll love the extra legroom. If you’re new to the sport, the Duke may feel a little small as you get more experience and want to do longer rides.

That really depends on the type of riding you want to do. If you are sticking to city streets and the occasional highway run, the Duke is perfect. If you are a tall rider, however, the Adventure is a better choice if you are planning to do any light off-roading or long tours.

I wish I’d gone for the Adventure, as I’m a 6’2” rider who started on a Duke 250. I always felt a bit cramped on longer rides, and the Duke's sporty position gets uncomfortable. I think the Adventure would’ve been a better fit from the beginning.

Even for tall beginners, I'd actually recommend the Duke 250. The one is lighter and more nimble, which makes it easier to handle while you're learning. For someone just starting out, the Adventure might feel just a little top heavy.

If you’re a tall beginner, then the Adventure 250 is the way to go. For a more comfortable ride, the upright seating and high handlebars make for longer rides. Also, you gain some extra ground clearance, which is good for confidence when you’re still learning.
