Are the Kia Venga's window motor problems a deal breaker?

by Ashutoshover 1 year ago0 views7 comments
Kia Venga known to have problems with electric window motors as car ages. According to some owners, windows won't close properly, open slowly or won't open at all. This is an issue that’s typically covered by Kia’s 7 year warranty, but it can be a real pain to deal with in older models. The frequency and severity of these issues are variable, with some owners never having problems, and others having multiple failures. Replacing window motors out of warranty can be very expensive. Does the Venga's common problem outweigh its other good points? What does that do to the overall reliability and ownership experience? Is this a little annoying or a big deal that should put potential buyers off?

I think that it's a bigger deal than some people make it out to be. Yes, it’s not an engine failure, but I’d go mad having to deal with finicky windows every day. Little things can really make a difference in your day to day driving.

Every budget friendly car will have some issues, but it's not ideal. At least with the Venga, you can't be surprised. It’s better to deal with a known issue than a surprise problem.

It depends on how handy you are, I’d say. Replacing window motors isn’t too hard if you’re willing to do it yourself. That would save a lot on repair costs.

The 7 year warranty is a huge plus, but it's a pain. You are covered for quite a while as long as you buy a newer model. Just make sure you get it fixed before the warranty runs out.

I have had my Venga for 5 years and never had a single window issue. I mean, I think that's been blown out of proportion online. Those without problems are less likely to post about it, but people with are more likely to.

Definitely a deal-breaker. Can you imagine getting caught in the rain and a window that won’t close? And it's just the tip of the iceberg — what else is going to go wrong?

It's annoying, but not a biggie. All cars have their quirks, and at least this one is a fixable one. It's better for me to have occasional window problems than major engine problems.
