And does the Flying Flea S6's girder fork suspension really make a difference to the ride?
The debate among motorcycle enthusiasts is Royal Enfield's decision to equip the Flying Flea S6 with a girder fork suspension. Yet this unusual choice is reminiscent of vintage designs, but in an electric bike way. Some say it's a clever wink at RE's heritage, others a useless exercise. It is a hot topic how impact suspension has on riding experience, comfort, and handling. There are also worries as how maintenance and repair costs compared to traditional head forks. The other question is if the girder fork can handle different terrain such as city streets and light off road use. This could make or break the bike for different rider demographics, and could even set a trend for future electric motorcycles.
The girder fork is actually pretty cool, I think. The S6 has a unique look and probably handles bumps better than standard forks. It might not be the easiest to get used to but it'd be fun!
