All of you are forgetting about handling. Acceleration isn't everything raw. With a well sorted suspension setup and weight distribution, this could be a really fun car to drive, even without crazy horsepower.

I'm actually glad to see an EV that doesn't try to melt your face off in the acceleration department. Perhaps that's what it means — they've put more effort into other areas like build quality and practicality.

The RWD setup intrigues me. This isn't going to be the fastest car in a straight line, but if they've got the balance right, this could be a surprisingly fun car to drive.

Because, let’s be real, most people buying this car won’t care about 0-60 times. What they want is something comfortable, efficient and easy to live with. The Elroq sounds like it delivers on that front.
Does the Skoda Elroq's "Modern Solid" design language hit or miss?

I'm loving the new look! Skoda should have tried something fresh some time ago. It’s pretty clean lined and has a modern vibe to it, especially in this sea of boring SUVs.

Eh, I'm not sold on it. It feels like Skoda trying too hard to be trendy, and, as a result, losing its identity. Where did the quirky, practical designs we all enjoyed go?

I'm torn, because I'm a long time Skoda fan. I will miss the classic logo, but the new design sure looks sleek. They're throwing away years of brand recognition.

I mean you guys are missing the point. Aerodynamics and efficiency are the name of the game with the "Modern Solid" design. It's impressive for an SUV to have that 0.26 drag coefficient. Function over form, people!

I think it's a smart move. This design language helps to appeal to younger buyers, something Skoda needs to do. And it's a nice touch for eco conscious consumers that the sustainable materials.

It's not a bad looking electric SUV, but in terms of design, it looks like every other electric SUV out there now. What happened to the Skoda charm? I’m concerned that they are losing their identity in the EV market.

I work in design, and I love the boldness. Skoda is taking a risk and brands need to evolve, and if they do it right, it could pay off big time.
Can the Skoda Elroq’s range and charging capabilities beat established EV players?
06 January 2025 10:18
On paper, the range is decent but in reality, it’s all about the charging network. Unless Skoda gets some big charging partners, they're going to struggle against the dominance of Tesla's Supercharger.
Can the Skoda Elroq’s range and charging capabilities beat established EV players?
06 January 2025 10:18
People are overestimating how important super long range is, I think. For most people's daily and occasional long trips, the Elroq's 560km top range is more than enough. We're not all road tripping every weekend.
Can the Skoda Elroq’s range and charging capabilities beat established EV players?
06 January 2025 10:18
Both Tesla and VW ID.4 owner here, and I can tell you that charging speed matters more than peak range. The Elroq has a pretty competitive 30 minute 10 80 percent charge time. If they can make that happen consistently, that's a winner.

06 January 2025 10:18
You all forget about efficiency. Raw range numbers don't give the full picture. If the Elroq can outperform its competition in real world efficiency, it could be a game changer for real world usability.

I’m more concerned with the entry level 370km range. For city dwellers, that may be fine, but for those of us in rural areas or with longer commutes, that’s cutting it close.
Can the Skoda Elroq’s range and charging capabilities beat established EV players?
06 January 2025 10:18
The specs look good, but Skoda has to do more to make it easy for users to find and use chargers. What will truly differentiate the chargers from the competition is a seamless, reliable charging experience.
Can the Skoda Elroq’s range and charging capabilities beat established EV players?

We shouldn't underestimate VW Group's resources. Should they be able to leverage their partnerships and scale up, the Elroq could have access to a strong charging network pretty quickly. It’s not simply about the car, it’s the ecosystem.
What will the market position of Skoda Elroq be if it follows a specific pricing strategy?
06 January 2025 10:18
£31,500 for an electric SUV with a decent range? Sign me up! Skoda is really hitting the value proposition nail on the head. They're basically bringing their budget friendly approach from their ICE cars to the EV world.
What will the market position of Skoda Elroq be if it follows a specific pricing strategy?
06 January 2025 10:18
I'm skeptical. Yes, on paper it looks like it’s priced right, but I’d bet that once you add some necessary features and a bigger battery, it’ll be just as expensive as the other guys. In the fine print, folks.
