Is Maruti Tour H3's dominance killing innovation in the budget taxi segment?
30 December 2024 09:07
It's a double-edged sword. With the Tour H3's dominance, parts and repairs are cheap and easy, good for taxi operators. It does make it harder for new ideas to break through, but yeah.
Is Maruti Tour H3's dominance killing innovation in the budget taxi segment?

We’re thinking about it wrong, I think. It is in the EV space where the real innovation is taking place. Affordable electric taxis will put an end to the days of the Tour H3.
Is Maruti Tour H3's dominance killing innovation in the budget taxi segment?

Maruti isn't stupid. Behind the scenes they’re probably working on the next big thing. With the success of the Tour H3 they have the resources to innovate without having to rush half baked ideas to market.
Can the Maruti Tour H2’s high fuel efficiency make up for its lack of power for taxi use?
30 December 2024 09:02
Absolutely! Taxi operators are all about fuel efficiency. The lack of power is easily made up for by savings on fuel. You don’t really need that extra oomph in city traffic, anyway.
Can the Maruti Tour H2’s high fuel efficiency make up for its lack of power for taxi use?
30 December 2024 09:02
No way. I can tell you as a taxi driver, lack of power is a real issue especially when you’re fully loaded or merging onto highways. It's not just about speed, of course, it's about safety as well.
Can the Maruti Tour H2’s high fuel efficiency make up for its lack of power for taxi use?
30 December 2024 09:02
It really depends on where you’re operating. The Tour H2 is perfect in flat, urban areas. However, it could be a problem in hilly regions or highway rich routes because of the lack of power.
Can the Maruti Tour H2’s high fuel efficiency make up for its lack of power for taxi use?
30 December 2024 09:02
You all forget about passenger comfort. Less power for a car means it feels strained and you don’t have a comfortable ride. If it saves money, what is the cost to customer satisfaction?
Can the Maruti Tour H2’s high fuel efficiency make up for its lack of power for taxi use?
30 December 2024 09:02
As a fleet manager the Tour H2 is great. This means we can keep our cars on the road for longer between fill ups, and ultimately increase productivity. It's worth the power trade off.
Can the Maruti Tour H2’s high fuel efficiency make up for its lack of power for taxi use?
30 December 2024 09:02
I believe we are missing the environmental side. Lower power is also lower emissions. This could be a big advantage for taxi operators in increasingly eco conscious cities.
Can the Maruti Tour H2’s high fuel efficiency make up for its lack of power for taxi use?
30 December 2024 09:02
Most taxi trips are short and in slow traffic, so let’s be real. For the majority of taxi use cases, the high fuel efficiency is way more relevant than top end power.
Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
It's definitely a concern. Any commercial vehicle should have safety as its number one priority. Not stocking advanced safety features on the Tour H2 is a big miss from Maruti and could be a liability by fleet operators.
Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
I disagree. All legal safety requirements are met by the Tour H2. Nice as these advanced features are, they come with a price. This means that smaller operators can afford newer, inherently safer vehicles than the older ones that they might otherwise use.
Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
As a fleet manager, I'm torn. Lower price is attractive, but I am concerned about accidents costs and the reputation hit we may suffer if our passengers perceive our vehicles as unsafe.
Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
Most taxi rides occur in slow, urban traffic, and you're all forgetting that. For this environment, the basic safety features are sufficient. Highway driving is more critical to advanced systems.
Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
Maruti miss the opportunity, I believe. Instead, they could have brought in a safer Tour H2 as a premium option allowing operators to differentiate themselves on safety.
Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
Now let’s look at the drivers as well. These vehicles are spent hours in every day. Shouldn't they be protected with modern safety features in their workplace?
Is the absence of modern safety features on the Maruti Tour H2 a deal breaker for responsible fleet operators?
30 December 2024 09:02
I actually check the safety features of the taxis I ride in as a passenger. Even if they’re cheaper, I’d be less likely to pick a service that uses vehicles without modern safety tech.
Are taxi fleets the only people who will use the Maruti Tour H2, which is essentially a rebadged WagonR?
30 December 2024 09:02
It's definitely a rebadged WagonR, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Taxi operators would know that the WagonR is a very reliable and fuel efficient car. Maybe Maruti did a bit of tweaking to make it more robust for commercial use.
Are taxi fleets the only people who will use the Maruti Tour H2, which is essentially a rebadged WagonR?
30 December 2024 09:02
I disagree. It's based on the WagonR, but to label it as just a rebadge does not do justice to the changes Maruti has made. That means they probably rebuilt the suspension to be even more rugged, modified the engine to last longer, and maybe even used different interior material to take the abuse.
Are taxi fleets the only people who will use the Maruti Tour H2, which is essentially a rebadged WagonR?
30 December 2024 09:02
In reality, it's Maruti's cost cutting move. Through this, they are saving on R&D and production costs as they will just be repurposing an existing model. I am not sure it is the best solution for taxi drivers or passengers, but it’s smart business.
