It's all about perspective. For me, it’s a badge of reliability. It can do taxi duty, so it can do anything I throw at it.

It's a real problem with the taxi image. Therefore, Maruti should think of rebranding or making the private version more clear cut.

If I was a young buyer, I would avoid it. The first impression matters and I don’t want people to think I’m an Uber driver every time I pick someone up.

The taxi image is overblown. On the road, most people can't tell a Tour S STD from a regular Dzire.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O) a glorified taxi or a practical family car?
30 December 2024 09:27
Definitely more than a taxi! In fact, if you’re a large family on a budget, the Tour V (O) is a great option. You get tons of space, decent fuel efficiency and Maruti's reliability. It's not fancy, but it does the job and it doesn't break the bank.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O) a glorified taxi or a practical family car?
30 December 2024 09:27
It's still just a glorified taxi, no way. The Tour V (O) lacks the creature comforts and basic safety features modern family cars should have. That doesn't mean that it's a good family option because it's cheap. For a bit more money there are much better alternatives in the market.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O) a glorified taxi or a practical family car?
30 December 2024 09:27
It depends on your priorities, I think. If you only require a simple, roomy car from time to time, and don’t mind not having any frills, the Tour V (O) may suit. I would say though that for daily family use you may want to spend a bit more for something with better safety features and comfort.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O) a glorified taxi or a practical family car?
30 December 2024 09:27
I own one and can say it’s surprisingly practical for family use. We had purchased it for our catering business but also use it for family trips. It's not luxurious, but it's reliable and for the price the space is unbeatable.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O) a glorified taxi or a practical family car?
30 December 2024 09:27
The Tour V (O) is stuck in the past, let's be real. Families need better safety and features. If Maruti wants to attract private buyers, it has to seriously upgrade it. For now, it’s best left for commercial use.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O)'s 5-star safety rating a game changer for the budget segment?
30 December 2024 09:27
Absolutely! For budget car buyers, this 5 star rating is a big deal. This shows that it’s possible to get a safe car without spending a fortune. Credit to Maruti for putting safety in an affordable package.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O)'s 5-star safety rating a game changer for the budget segment?
30 December 2024 09:27
It’s a good first step, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. A basic car with outdated design and features, the Tour V (O) is still. While a good safety rating isn't a bad thing, it doesn't make it a great family car option.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O)'s 5-star safety rating a game changer for the budget segment?
30 December 2024 09:27
I don't know how this translates to real world safety. Yes, it passed crash tests, but did it have active safety features? Does it have ABS, EBD and multiple airbulbs? Those matter too.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O)'s 5-star safety rating a game changer for the budget segment?
30 December 2024 09:27
It could change the game in the taxi market. Safer roads for everyone means safer cabs. If the Tour V (O) is adopted by more fleet operators, it could have far reaching implications for road safety in India.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O)'s 5-star safety rating a game changer for the budget segment?
30 December 2024 09:27
The safety rating is impressive, but I don't think it'll make much difference to private buyers. Those looking at this segment care more about price and fuel efficiency. It is important, but it is not the only factor.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O)'s 5-star safety rating a game changer for the budget segment?

I believe this will make other budget car makers take up their safety game. Competition is good for consumers, and if this starts a trend towards safer budget cars, that’s a win for everyone.
Is the Maruti Tour V (O)'s 5-star safety rating a game changer for the budget segment?
30 December 2024 09:27
We shall see how it works in real world conditions. Lab tests are one thing, but it’s another to see how it holds up in real Indian road conditions. That's what really matters.
Does the Maruti Tour V (O) offer practicality and value as good as modern compact SUVs?
30 December 2024 09:27
No way! There is more than enough to be said about features, safety, and style in compact SUVs. The Tour V (O) might be spacious, but it looks like a dinosaur compared to other SUVs of today.
