So how does the Gypsy stack up against today's off roader like the new Mahindra Thar?

Modifiability goes to the Gypsy. Every part can be tweaked and upgraded easily. Today’s vehicles are simply too complex and electronic for easy DIY mods.
So how does the Gypsy stack up against today's off roader like the new Mahindra Thar?

I'd take the Thar any day. It is safer, more comfortable, and still good enough off road. The Gypsy is cool, but you don't want to make compromises in daily use.
How practical is the Mahindra Xylo's boxy design, a deal breaker or an advantage?
30 December 2024 06:42
I honestly like the boxy design. Driving it is like driving a mini bus, and that extra headroom is a godsend for tall people as I am. Plus, it’s so much easier to park than those curvy SUVs that you can’t see the corners.
How practical is the Mahindra Xylo's boxy design, a deal breaker or an advantage?

No way, man. It looks like the Xylo was designed with a ruler. A rolling brick that yells 'I gave up on life' However, there are plenty of practical cars that don’t look like they’re stuck in the 90s.
How practical is the Mahindra Xylo's boxy design, a deal breaker or an advantage?

Perspective I think it is all about. It’s not winning any beauty contests, but have you ever tried to fit a washing machine in the back of a slick crossover? The Xylo swallows large items like a champ.
How practical is the Mahindra Xylo's boxy design, a deal breaker or an advantage?

In fact, for its size, the boxy design is actually pretty aerodynamic. It doesn't look like it, but it cuts through the air better than you'd think. The flat surfaces are also great for slapping on some funky decals!
How practical is the Mahindra Xylo's boxy design, a deal breaker or an advantage?

Having owned curvy and boxy cars, I can say that the Xylo’s shape grows on you. You could think of it is a faithful dog, not a good looking one, but a faithful one that always there when you need it.
Does Mahindra Xylo's reputation for reliability hold good for its basic interior?
30 December 2024 06:42
Absolutely! I’d rather have a bulletproof engine and transmission than fancy touchscreens… I can’t say that about many cars with all the bells and whistles, but my Xylo's been running for 10 years with minimal issues.
Does Mahindra Xylo's reputation for reliability hold good for its basic interior?
30 December 2024 06:42
I’ll take no way, the interior is a deal breaker for me. I spend hours in my car each day and I need some comfort. Mahindra needs to step up their game, there are plenty of reliable cars out there with decent interiors.
Does Mahindra Xylo's reputation for reliability hold good for its basic interior?
30 December 2024 06:42
It's all about priorities. If you’re using it as a family car, the basic interior will be a bummer. However, in terms of reliability, business use or as a second car is huge. And, fewer gadgets equals fewer distractions while driving.
Does Mahindra Xylo's reputation for reliability hold good for its basic interior?
30 December 2024 06:42
In fact, I like the basic interior better. I can wipe it down easily and my kids won't ruin expensive upholstery. Simple is sometimes better, and in the case of a workhorse vehicle, it’s often the best.
Does Mahindra Xylo's reputation for reliability hold good for its basic interior?
30 December 2024 06:42
The reliability is great, and I think Mahindra could strike a middle ground. If you keep the mechanical simplicity, upgrade the seats and add a better infotainment system, you’ll come out way ahead. It doesn’t have to be luxury, just a bit more modern.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's ordering of roll over risk or high seating position a safety feature?
30 December 2024 06:42
I’ve driven a Xylo for years and can vouch for the high seating being a big positive. It’s saved me from potential accidents more times than I can count, being able to see over traffic. If you drive sensibly, the rollover risk is overblown.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's ordering of roll over risk or high seating position a safety feature?

I'd be no way safe in that top heavy box. Physics doesn’t lie, the higher the center of gravity the easier it is to tip. Thanks, I’ll stick with something lower to the ground.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's ordering of roll over risk or high seating position a safety feature?
30 December 2024 06:42
It's all about trade-offs. It’s a great visibility, especially in India where you have to be on the lookout for potholes, cows, etc. Yeah but you have to be more careful on sharp turns. It is not a sports car, drive it like the MPV that it is.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's ordering of roll over risk or high seating position a safety feature?
30 December 2024 06:42
I tend to think people overestimate the rollover risk. Stability control systems nowadays are very advanced. Also, the Xylo's wide stance helps balance the height. After all, we're not talking about a narrow Jeep here.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's ordering of roll over risk or high seating position a safety feature?
30 December 2024 06:42
I love the high seating as a parent. The view is great for my kids which means less motion sickness and less "are we there yet". Just don't try to be a rally driver.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's popularity in rural areas to the detriment of its suitability for urban driving?
30 December 2024 06:42
I have my Xylo in the city every day and it’s a great bike. I love that the seating position is so high, it’s perfect for being able to see over traffic, and the spacious interior is a lifesaver if I’m hauling stuff for work. It's not as nimble as a hatchback, far from it, but it certainly isn't unusable.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's popularity in rural areas to the detriment of its suitability for urban driving?
30 December 2024 06:42
I would never drive a Xylo in the city. It's a bit like trying to parallel park a small bus. Plus, the fuel efficiency in stop and go traffic is abysmal. It’s much better suited for urban driving.
Is the Mahindra Xylo's popularity in rural areas to the detriment of its suitability for urban driving?
30 December 2024 06:42
It's all about perspective. Yes, it's big, but so's half the SUVs that are on the road right now. For a car of its size, the Xylo has decent turning radius. Also, that high ground clearance comes in handy in a city like Mumbai, where the roads overflow every monsoon.
