I’d rather tour on a 690 than a big, heavy adventure bike. It’s much more fun and can take anything you throw at it.

No way. Its fuel range alone makes it a pain to travel long trips. If you stop every 100 miles, you'll stop a lot.

Absolutely not! I started on a 690 and it is definitely the best decision I've ever made. It’s super forgiving because of the electronics package.

Why not, if you can afford it and you want to learn? All you need is frame sliders and be prepared to replace some parts.

Surprisingly manageable on the street, I've found. In the city, the V-twin has good low end torque.
