Is the Hyundai Venue CNG's performance up to the 'SUV experience'?
03 January 2025 07:04
It's a compromise, for sure. With fuel prices being what they are these days, I'd much rather have a slightly underpowered CNG SUV than a gas guzzling powerhouse.
Is the Hyundai Venue CNG's performance up to the 'SUV experience'?
03 January 2025 07:04
Let's face it, most compact SUVs are not really offering a true 'SUV experience' anyway. The Venue CNG is honest about its urban orientation.
Long term reliability and maintenance cost of Hyundai Venue CNG?
03 January 2025 07:04
With other CNG cars I’ve had, they seem to require more regular servicing. I still think the long term costs might be better with the Venue CNG, since it's factory fitted, but I'm still sceptical.
Long term reliability and maintenance cost of Hyundai Venue CNG?
03 January 2025 07:04
I've had my Venue CNG for a year and it's actually quite low maintenance. So far, the fuel savings definitely outweigh any extra service costs.
Long term reliability and maintenance cost of Hyundai Venue CNG?

The trick is to keep it maintained regularly. These cars will be as reliable as petrol versions if you stick to the service schedule and use good quality CNG.
Long term reliability and maintenance cost of Hyundai Venue CNG?

Resale value is what I’m worried about. High mileage CNG vehicles are hard to find buyers for and CNG cars tend to depreciate faster.
Long term reliability and maintenance cost of Hyundai Venue CNG?
03 January 2025 07:04
I've owned aftermarket as well as factory fitted CNG cars before, but the Venue is in a different league. It’s much more reliable, and doesn’t feel like a compromise.
Long term reliability and maintenance cost of Hyundai Venue CNG?

It's the real test, after 5-6 years. We'll know then if these factory fitted CNG systems are going to be able to last the distance, without major problems.
Long term reliability and maintenance cost of Hyundai Venue CNG?
03 January 2025 07:04
I don’t think people realize how much it costs to maintain CNG vehicles. If taken care of properly, they can be just as reliable, and possibly more cheap in the long run because of less carbon buildup.

The ride on the Venue is on the firmer side, and I like it for handling, but it can be a tad harsh on really bad roads. You feel more bumps but you have better control.

I think the Venue copes pretty well with rough roads, coming from a hatchback. It’s not quite as plush as some larger SUVs, but it’s a huge step up from my old car. The jarring of potholes isn’t quite as bad anymore.

I'm honestly a little bit disappointed in the ride quality. On the 16 inch wheels it’s too stiff for my liking. The Brezza feels much more comfortable over bad patches.

I believe it achieves a nice equilibrium. On highways it's composed, and it does well on city roads. Sure it’s not the softest ride on the block, but it’s secure and doesn’t float around like some other soft sprung rides.

The noise insulation is not so good, but the ride is fine. Even if you don’t feel them as much, you hear a lot of thuds and bumps. It's not a deal breaker, but something you should be aware of.

The slightly firmer ride is actually what I prefer. Some of its rivals feel more wallowy, but this feels more controlled. Besides, it decreases body roll, which is perfect for people who like to drive on twisty roads.

It's all about perspective. And if you are coming from a Maruti, you will feel great. It is a little lacking if you are used to higher end cars. At the price point, I think it's pretty good, not class leading, but certainly competitive.
How have Japanese rivals performed in terms of reliability in the Hyundai Venue, or long run?
03 January 2025 06:57
I've had my Venue 3 years now and have had little to no problems. Everything was routine maintenance, no major issues. It's far from problematic, but it's not quite Toyota level bulletproof.
How have Japanese rivals performed in terms of reliability in the Hyundai Venue, or long run?

I’ve had the engine and transmission and been mostly reliable, with some annoying electrical niggles (nothing major, just things like the infotainment glitching once in a while). Here Japanese cars may have an edge.

My experience has been mixed. It runs great but I've had to replace the clutch sooner than I thought I would. Maybe it's my driving style, but it feels premature to what my old Honda was.

Before the Venue, I was skeptical on Hyundai reliability, but my Venue has proven me wrong, 60,000 km and counting without any issues except regular wear and tear. And the maintenance costs have been reasonable as well.
