An excellent entry level cruiser, without the frightening size and big horsepower of larger bikes. Ideal for a taster of the cruiser life.

It’s a poser bike, let’s be real. The Avenger 160 just isn't about presence and power, and so true cruisers they are not. Save up for something bigger.

It is a cruiser essence in an Indian context. Here our roads and traffic are different, so a smaller, more manageable cruiser makes sense.

I'd call it a "cruiser-lite." It provides you with some of the style and comfort, but not the performance. It's a good way to start towards bigger cruisers.

It is its own thing, the Avenger 160, a uniquely Indian take on the cruiser concept. That’s not a Harley, and that’s okay.
The Avenger 160 Street is a daily commuter.
14 January 2025 06:12
It turns out it is surprisingly good for commuting! Its low seat height makes it easy to manage in traffic, and relaxed riding position keeps you comfortable in stop and go situations.

I wouldn’t recommend it for daily use. Its long wheelbase makes it a pain to drive in tight spaces and the engine feels underpowered for quick over takes in city traffic.

It's a mixed bag. It’s great for longer commutes but you’ll be frustrated in heavy traffic due to the lack of agility. That really depends on your commute.

I have used mine for years, daily rides and they are great! It's a lot more comfortable than a standard commuter bike and the fuel efficiency is great.

It's okay, but not ideal. It has cool cruiser styling, but you pay the price in practicality. Without proper storage options, things like grocery runs can be a pain.

It's perfect for laid back commuters. The Avenger is great if you're not in a rush and you can use it to enjoy your ride to work. If you need to zip through traffic, however, look elsewhere.

I think it's a good compromise. It’s comfortable enough for daily use, but still fun enough for weekend rides. You won't expect sportbike performance in the city, though.
Is the Bajaj Avenger 160 Street a good bike for new riders?
14 January 2025 06:12
It's a great starter bike! It has a low seat height that gives you confidence and a relaxed riding position that’s comfy for learning. It’s not too powerful, so you’re not going to get in over your head, plus.
Is the Bajaj Avenger 160 Street a good bike for new riders?
14 January 2025 06:12
I'd say no. It’s hard to maneuver in tight spaces, which is important for new riders, because of the long wheelbase. It’s better if you have a more nimble bike to build your skills.

It depends on your goals. Sure if you’re just cruising around town. However, if you actually want to learn how to ride, you'll likely outgrow it fast. In the long run, something more versatile might be better.

I began on an Avenger 160 and I loved it! The laid back style meant I wasn’t intimidated and I could flat foot at stops. It was great for building confidence.

It's okay, but not ideal. It's not very good with the brakes and performance isn't that great. Trying to compensate for its shortcomings, you may pick up bad habits. You’d learn better fundamentals on a standard naked bike.
Will the Bajaj Avenger 400 be a game-changer in the Indian cruiser market?
18 December 2024 07:00
Absolutely! The Avenger 400 could be exactly what the Indian market needs. It'll offer more power than the 220 without the insane price tag of bigger bikes. Perfect for those wanting to upgrade.
So how would an Avenger 400 sit in the family photo of the current Indian cruiser market?
18 December 2024 05:33
The cool cousin showing up at the family reunion would be an Avenger 400. That could slot right in between the smaller 350cc cruisers that some might find a bit underpowered and the pricier 650cc options that are out of reach for many. If you find the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 a little too tame, but can’t stretch to a 650, this Avenger 400 could well be the answer. It’s almost like the middle seat at the movies — not too close, not too far, just right. With the Avenger 400, Bajaj may have found the bike that will put balance in the Indian cruiser market.
Bajaj’s superhero origin story could have been the Avenger 400.
18 December 2024 05:33
Bajaj's 'bitten by a radioactive spider' moment in the bike world could be launching the Avenger 400. That would prove that Bajaj is not the commuter bike company anymore — they can innovate and play in big leagues too. It's that nerdy kid in high school who comes in all cool and confident after summer break. Maybe the Avenger 400 says Bajaj, 'Hey, we can do fun and exciting too and we're not just about practical rides!' It could even provoke a whole new generation of Bajaj fans to whom the brand will look completely different.
