I've ridden both and the Aerox just feels a more refined overall. It is a smoother engine and a more comfortable engine for longer rides. It’s more raw and exciting, though, the SR 160.

The SR 160 is way more fun, no way! It's lighter and more nimble. In comparison, the Aerox feels a little too... sensible. It’s the Aprilia if you want excitement.

One is great for long rides, the other for short ones. The fuel efficiency and comfort makes the Aerox better for everyday use. And the SR 160 is the one you’d choose if you’re after pure fun on the weekends.

The looks and handling is the reason I picked the SR 160 over the Aerox. The Yamaha probably has better build quality and reliability, but I have to admit. It's a tough choice.

That’s why the Aerox wins for me. It feels more modern with the start stop system, bigger fuel tank and digital cluster. Compared to the SR 160, the unit feels a bit dated.

Having owned both, I’d say the SR 160 is more fun to ride, but the Aerox is easier to live with on a day to day basis. That really depends on what you value more.

There is something Italian about the Aprilia that the Yamaha can’t match. Not always about practicality, sometimes you just want something that you smile every time you look at it.

I think the Aerox is the better all rounder. While it is not quite so sporty as the SR 160, it is better on comfort and fuel efficiency. And Yamaha's service network is a lot better than Aprilia's in the majority of places.
Do budget conscious riders care about the fuel efficiency of the Aprilia SR 160?

On my SR 160 I get about 35-38 km/l which is not good compared to other scooters. You don’t buy an Aprilia for fuel efficiency, but hey. Performance and style, that’s all there is to it.

Certainly, the fuel efficiency is a concern. I adore riding my SR 160, but it’s annoying to keep having to stop for fuel, especially with the cost of petrol increasing all the time. If you are on a budget, it’s something to consider.

I think the fuel efficiency is exaggerated by people. But you can get decent mileage if you ride sensibly. Also, the fun factor outweighs the extra fuel costs in my book.

It's a trade-off, for sure. As you're getting a high performance scooter, it is definitely going to use up fuel more. If fuel efficiency is what’s most important for you, there are better options out there.

Regular maintenance and proper tire pressure will help quite a bit with fuel efficiency. It won’t match a 110cc scooter, but you should be able to squeeze out a few more kilometers per liter.

It's not great for fuel efficiency, but it's not bad either. You have to look at the whole package, performance, style, and the joy of riding. It's worth the extra fuel costs for me.

I switched from a more fuel efficient scooter to the SR 160, and to be honest, the difference in fuel costs isn’t as dramatic as I expected it to be. It makes up for it with an improved riding experience.
How does the Aprilia SR 160 fare in wet conditions as compared to other scooters?

I have been riding my SR 160 through some pretty wet downpours and it rides pretty good. Fortunately, the ABS is a lifesaver, and the wider tires definitely do help with grip.

It's okay, but not great. If not careful the power can be a bit much on slippery roads. Honestly, I feel more confident on my friend's Activa in the rain.

I think it’s more the rider rather than the scooter. The SR 160 is fine if you know how to handle power in wet conditions. It’s definitely not as forgiving as some other scooters.

One of the reasons I love the SR 160 is its handling in wet conditions. The thing feels planted and stable, way more than the other scooters I’ve ridden. Just have to be smooth with the throttle.

I can say that changing to better quality tires has made a huge difference in wet weather performance. I wouldn’t say the stock tires are bad, they’re okay, but you could definitely go better.
