The Indica Vista EV participated in the Progressive Insurance Automotive X Prize but was withdrawn in the third round. Despite this, the vehicles performance, with a range of 200 km and a top speed of 105 kmph, was notable. I believe the participation in such competitions highlighted Tatas commitment to innovation.

In 2010, Tata Motors announced plans to launch the Indica Vista Electric in Europe, particularly in Norway and the UK, with support from the UK government and partnerships with companies like Miljø Grenland/Innovasjon and Electrovaya. This move was part of their strategy to expand their electric vehicle offerings globally. I believe this international push could have been a game-changer for Tata Motors.

The Tata Indica Vista Electric was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2010 in India. This electric version of the Vista can reach a top speed of 128 kmph and goes from 0 to 30 kmph in just 4.5 seconds. It is powered by a 55 kW Permanent-magnet electric motor and a 26.5 kWh Lithium Polymer battery, offering a range of up to 200 kilometres on a full charge. I think this electric variant was a bold step towards sustainable mobility.

The Indica Vista EV saw limited production in 2008 and 2010, with a few units produced in India and Spain. The electric version was expected to launch locally in India around 2010, but the exact price was not disclosed. I think the limited production was a missed opportunity for early adoption of electric vehicles in India.

The Tata Indica Vista was built on a completely new platform and was larger than the previous Indica, measuring 3,795 mm in length with a wheelbase of 2,470 mm. This new design and larger size provided more interior space, making it more comfortable for passengers. I believe the increased space was a major selling point for the Vista.

The Indica Vista introduced several new features, such as power windows, central locking, ABS with EBD, and a trip computer. The top-of-the-line ZX variant included additional features like alloy wheels, dual airbags, a touch-screen infotainment system with satellite navigation, and an automatic climate control system. These features made the Vista a competitive option in its segment.

The Tata Indica Vista, launched in August 2008, featured new Fiat engines, including a 1.3 L Quadrajet common rail direct injection diesel and a 1.2 L Safire MPFI VVT petrol engine. The Quadrajet engine, in particular, was praised for its performance, delivering 88 bhp. This engine was also used in other models like the Fiat Punto 90HP Sport. I think the partnership with Fiat significantly enhanced the Vistas performance.
