The Avinya EVs will be based on a more basic version of the EMA platform, with system voltages of 300-400 volts, unlike the 800-volt system used in Jaguar EVs. This decision is due to the higher cost of 800-volt technologies and the rarity of ultra-fast chargers in India. I think this is a practical approach given the current infrastructure in India.

Tata Motors has confirmed that the Avinya series will include SUVs and MPVs in various sizes and body styles. The concept unveiled in April 2022 combines the luxury and versatility of an SUV with the roominess and functionality of an MPV. This design approach is expected to appeal to a wide range of consumers. I believe the unique design will be a key selling point for Avinya.

The Avinya range is expected to debut in late 2025, with the first road-ready Avinya EV likely to be the production version of the concept unveiled in April 2022. The vehicle measures only 4.3 meters in length, making it suitable for India’s narrow streets. I believe this compact size will be an advantage in urban areas.

Tata Motors has indicated that the Avinya EVs will be significantly more sophisticated than their existing EVs, designed and engineered from the ground up to be electric vehicles. This contrasts with their current EVs, which are derivatives of internal combustion engine models. I think this approach will set Avinya apart in the market.

The Avinya series will be priced in the range of Rs. 30.00 - 60.00 Lakh, positioning it as a premium offering in the Indian market. The pricing strategy aims to balance luxury features with competitive pricing. I believe this pricing will attract a lot of attention from luxury EV buyers.

Tata Motors has announced that the Avinya series will not be a single vehicle, but a premium all-electric brand covering an entire family of cars and SUVs. The first Avinya car is expected to be launched around late 2025 and will be based on Tata’s Gen 3 EV architecture. This move positions Avinya as a high-end offering within Tata’s product portfolio. I think this strategy could significantly boost Tatas presence in the luxury EV market.

Tata Motors plans to produce the Avinya range of cars at their new plant in Tamil Nadu, with an investment of Rs 9,000 crore. The plant, likely located in Ranipet, will also manufacture Jaguar Land Rover EVs using JLR’s modular EMA architecture. Localizing the platform will help ensure competitive costs. I believe this investment will be crucial for Tatas future in electric vehicles.

The Avinya concept is inspired by a catamaran and features a new silhouette that blends the best of premium hatches, SUVs, and MPVs. It includes Butterfly doors and a class-leading spacious interior. The vehicle is designed with next-gen materials and efficient electronic componentry for enhanced structural safety and waterproofing.

Tata Motors is considering positioning Avinya as either a new marque or a sub-brand within Tata Motors. This could help emphasize the premium positioning of Avinya compared to existing Tata EVs. The decision on branding is yet to be finalized. I think keeping Avinya as a separate brand could help in targeting a more premium market segment.

Tata Motors use of the EMA platform for Avinya EVs will also benefit from cost advantages due to localization in India. The company will pay a royalty fee to JLR for using the platform but will ensure it remains competitive. I think this is a smart move to keep costs in check while leveraging advanced technology.
