Maserati Kubang SUV

About
The Maserati Levante, originally conceptualized as the Kubang, is a luxury SUV that boasts a striking Italian design with a prominent grille, front fender vents, and LED headlights. It is built on a platform similar to the Jeep Grand Cherokee but features distinct Maserati styling. The Levante is powered by a Ferrari-made twin-turbo V6 engine, producing 430hp, which provides a sporty and engaging driving experience. The vehicle features improved ride and handling, especially in sportier modes, and offers a comfortable and spacious interior, although the build quality and feature set could be better. It is an SUV that stands out for its performance, design, and exotic badge, making it a unique choice for those who value these aspects over practical considerations.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maserati Kubang SUV, which was later renamed to the Maserati Levante, is a vehicle that has generated significant interest but also some confusion due to its conceptual and naming changes. From my perspective, the Levante (formerly Kubang) is a robust and stylish SUV that combines Italian design with robust performance. However, it is crucial to note that the Kubang concept itself has not been launched in India, and any discussions about it are more speculative. If you are considering the Levante, it offers a compelling blend of sporty performance, comfortable ride, and exotic appeal, although it falls short in terms of interior build quality and feature richness compared to its competitors.
Price
The Maserati Levante, the production version of what was initially conceptually known as the Kubang, is priced around Rs 1.63 crore ex-showroom in India. When you factor in the on-road costs, including taxes and other charges, the price can easily exceed Rs 1.8 crore. This positioning makes the Levante a premium offering, but it does not offer the same level of equipment or build quality as some of its rivals at this price point. For those seeking a unique, high-performance SUV with an exotic badge, the price might be justified, but for others, it could be a steep ask.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 21 November 2024 09:48 AM There have been no recent updates or announcements from Maserati regarding the Kubang SUV, as it remains a concept that was showcased over a decade ago. I believe this concept had a lot of potential, but it seems Maserati has focused on other models like the Levante instead.
Friday, 15 September 2023 10:04 AM The Maserati Kubang concept was first unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was designed by Jeeps design chief, Lorenzo Ramaciotti, and was intended to be a luxury SUV. The concept was well-received for its sleek design and potential performance capabilities. I think it would have been an interesting addition to Maseratis lineup.
Saturday, 10 June 2023 08:11 AM Despite the initial interest and positive feedback, Maserati never moved forward with production plans for the Kubang SUV. Instead, the company focused on developing the Levante, which has become a staple in their luxury SUV segment. I believe the Levante has filled the gap nicely, but the Kubang could have offered something unique.
Monday, 20 March 2023 10:22 PM The Kubang concept featured a sleek and aggressive design, blending Maseratis signature styling with the practicality of an SUV. It was powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, similar to what is found in other Maserati models. I think the design was ahead of its time and could have been a game-changer in the luxury SUV market.
Wednesday, 25 January 2023 01:48 PM There has been occasional speculation about Maserati revisiting the Kubang concept, but nothing concrete has been announced. Given the current market trends and Maseratis focus on electric and hybrid models, its unlikely the Kubang will see production anytime soon. I believe Maserati is making the right moves by focusing on more sustainable options.
Saturday, 15 October 2022 08:35 AM Although the Kubang never entered production, its design and concept likely influenced the development of the Maserati Levante. The Levante has become a successful model for Maserati, offering a blend of luxury, performance, and practicality. I think the Kubangs legacy can be seen in the Levantes design and capabilities.
Thursday, 01 September 2022 12:35 PM When the Kubang concept was unveiled, it received positive reviews for its design and potential performance. Many were excited about the possibility of a Maserati SUV, but it ultimately never materialized. I believe the initial excitement was justified, and its a shame it didnt make it to production.
Wednesday, 01 June 2022 10:18 AM The Kubang concept was a result of a collaboration between Maserati and Jeeps design teams. This collaboration brought a unique perspective to the design, blending Italian luxury with American SUV practicality. I think this collaboration was innovative and could have led to something special.
Tuesday, 01 March 2022 11:36 PM The Kubang concept was envisioned with a powerful 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which would have provided impressive performance for an SUV. This powertrain was similar to what is used in other high-performance Maserati models. I believe this engine would have made the Kubang a formidable competitor in the luxury SUV market.
Thursday, 15 September 2011 03:48 PM The Maserati Kubang concept was first unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, marking Maseratis entry into the luxury SUV segment. The concept was well-received for its sleek design and potential performance capabilities. I think it was an exciting time for Maserati enthusiasts.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 12:45 PM When it comes to mileage, the Maserati Levante, with its powerful 430hp petrol V6 engine, is not designed for fuel efficiency. You can expect mileage in the range of 6-8 kml in city driving and slightly better on the highway. Given its performance-oriented nature, running costs will be higher, making it less appealing to those prioritizing fuel economy.
