Although the Maruti A-Star did not meet the new stringent safety standards, Maruti Suzuki has since focused on enhancing safety features in its newer models, like the Dzire. I believe this shift towards safety is a positive step for the company.

Unlike newer Maruti models like the Dzire, which achieved a 5-star Global NCAP rating, the A-Star did not undergo such rigorous safety testing. I think if the A-Star had been tested, it might not have fared as well as the newer models.

The Maruti A-Star offered a mileage of 16.98 to 19 kmpl, depending on the transmission type. The manual petrol variant had a mileage of 19 kmpl, while the automatic variant had a mileage of 16.98 kmpl. I think the fuel efficiency was one of the strong points of this car.

In an attempt to boost sales, Maruti Suzuki introduced a limited edition of the A-Star, called the A-Star Aktiv. This edition added some vibrant and exciting features to the standard model. I believe such limited editions can sometimes revitalize interest in a model, but it wasnt enough to save the A-Star.

Maruti Suzuki launched the facelift of the A-Star in the Chinese market at the Chengdu Auto Show. Although this update was not available in India, it showed the companys efforts to keep the model relevant globally. I think it would have been interesting to see this facelift in India as well.
