The current Mahindra XUV500 W11 (O) AT, the top model in the lineup, is priced at Rs. 18.69 lakh and offers a range of features including automatic climate control, rear AC vents, and a reverse camera with guidance. It also comes with advanced safety features like six airbags and an Advanced Driver Assistance System. I think the combination of comfort, performance, and safety makes this model a great value for money.

Mahindra has enhanced the performance of the XUV500 by tweaking the ECU and replacing the variable geometry turbocharger with an electronically controlled one, resulting in an increase of 15PS and 30Nm of torque. The engine now produces 155PS and 360Nm of torque. I believe this improvement will make the XUV500 more competitive against its rivals like the Tata Hexa.

The Mahindra XUV500 W11 (O) AWD model is available with a manual transmission and features all-wheel drive, electrically adjustable seats, and a host of convenience features like keyless entry and a wireless smartphone charger. The model also includes safety features such as child locks and a 360-degree camera system. I think the AWD option adds significant versatility to the vehicle, especially for those who frequently drive on rough terrain.

Mahindra has announced the discontinuation of the current XUV500 model, making way for the next-generation XUV500 expected to launch in the first half of 2024. The new model will be a 5-seater SUV, smaller than its predecessor, and will compete directly with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Celtos. It is expected to be priced between Rs. 9.99 lakh and Rs. 17 lakh. I think this move will help Mahindra fill the gap between the XUV300 and XUV700 in their lineup.

The upcoming Mahindra XUV500 will feature significant design updates, including LED projector headlights, a blacked-out chrome grille, and new 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior will boast a dual-tone dashboard, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I believe these changes will make the new XUV500 a strong contender in the mid-size SUV segment.
