Hyundai has introduced a new update for the Verna, including a rear spoiler and a new Amazon Grey color option. The Verna EX variant, however, does not come with the rear spoiler as it is standard in all variants except the base EX trim. The prices of the Verna have been increased uniformly by Rs 4,000 across all variants except the base EX.

The Hyundai Verna EX variant is priced at Rs 1,100,400 (ex-showroom), making it the most affordable option in the Verna lineup. This variant comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 115 PS of power and 144 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. I think this makes it a great entry-point for those looking for a feature-packed sedan without breaking the bank.

The new Hyundai Verna, including the EX variant, follows Hyundai’s Parametric Dynamism design language, which is also seen on models like the Tucson. The EX variant retains the sleek front end with Hyundai’s parametric grille and full-width horizontal LED DRLs. This design update gives the Verna a more modern and aggressive look.

Bookings for the new Hyundai Verna, including the EX variant, opened a few weeks before its launch in March 2023. The EX variant is expected to attract buyers looking for a balance between features and affordability. I believe the pre-booking period helped Hyundai gauge the market interest in the new Verna.

In 2020, Hyundai introduced a new base petrol variant for the Verna, which is now the EX trim, priced at Rs 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom) at the time. This move brought the base price of the car down, making it more competitive in the mid-size sedan segment. I think this strategy helped Hyundai attract more budget-conscious buyers.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna EX variant was part of the new generation launch that aimed to deliver 10,000 units by Diwali. This aggressive sales target indicated Hyundais confidence in the new Vernas appeal. The EX variant played a key role in achieving this target with its balanced feature set and pricing.

The 2017 Hyundai Verna, including the EX variant, was launched in August 2017 with pre-bookings starting earlier. The EX variant was part of the four trim options available and featured significant design and feature updates compared to its predecessor. This launch was crucial for Hyundai to regain market share in the sedan segment.

Hyundai had initially planned to introduce a mild hybrid version of the Verna in India but dropped the plan due to unfavourable GST prices. This decision did not affect the EX variant directly, but it did impact the overall strategy for the Verna lineup. I believe this was a missed opportunity for Hyundai to offer a more fuel-efficient option.

The new Hyundai Verna EX variant, launched in 2017, came with engine specifications that included a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. However, the current EX variant only offers petrol engines. This change reflects the markets shift towards petrol engines in recent years.
