Hyundai is offering discounts of up to Rs 55,000 on the i20 this October 2024, which could make the Asta (O) variant more attractive to buyers. Despite the absence of a diesel engine, the petrol variants, especially the CVT, offer a comfortable and feature-rich driving experience. I believe these discounts could boost sales, especially for those looking for a well-equipped hatchback.

The Hyundai i20 Asta (O) CVT, although no longer available with a diesel engine, remains a capable daily driver and decent weekender. The 1.2-litre four-cylinder Kappa petrol engine paired with the CVT transmission is adequate for city commutes, and the car is loaded with features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, and a wireless charger. I think the lack of a diesel option might be a drawback, but the petrol CVT is a smooth and sophisticated choice.

Hyundai has discontinued the 1.5-litre diesel engine for the i20, which was previously available in the Magna, Sportz, and Asta (O) trims. This move aligns with the new BS6 Phase 2 engine updates, leaving only the 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines as options. I think this shift towards petrol engines might make the i20 less appealing to those who prefer diesel for its fuel efficiency.

The Hyundai i20, including the Asta (O) variant, has been updated with new BS6 Phase 2 compliant engines. However, the diesel variants have been discontinued, and the focus is now on the 1.2-litre NA petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines. I believe this update will help Hyundai comply with stricter emission norms, but it may disappoint diesel enthusiasts.
