The Devel Sixteen, once touted as a 5000-horsepower V-16 hypercar, has faced significant scrutiny as it appears to have transitioned into a Corvette-based project with a V-8 engine. A video by YouTuber Supercar Blondie revealed the car might be using a Chevrolet Corvette C8 chassis, raising questions about the original promises. In 2021, Devel Motors shared photos of the Devel Sixteen’s “state of the art” chassis, but the images sparked more confusion than excitement. At the 2017 Dubai International Motor Show, Devel Motors unveiled the production version of the Devel Sixteen, claiming it would produce 5007 horsepower and 3757 lb-ft of torque from its 12.3-liter quad-turbo V-16 engine. The car was designed with a super lightweight, high-strength carbon fiber body and advanced aerodynamics. I think the engineering behind this is impressive, but the practicality is questionable.

Devel Motors first introduced the Devel Sixteen at the 2013 Dubai International Auto Show, promising a 5000-horsepower V-16 engine and a top speed of 348 mph. However, the lack of a price or on-sale date led the car industry to label the project as vaporware. I think the initial hype was too good to be true.
