BMW has launched the new X3 xDrive20d xLine in India, priced at Rs. 67.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This diesel variant replaces the Luxury Edition and features a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine producing 190 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The xLine comes with a panoramic glass roof, a 16-speaker Harman-Kardon sound system, and a 12.3-inch infotainment unit. I think this new variant will appeal to those looking for a powerful and feature-rich diesel SUV.

The BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine boasts minor styling differences from its predecessor, including an aggressive front face with BMW’s iconic kidney grille and flat-looking adaptive LED headlights. The interior features Oak and Pearl chrome trim, and while it lacks some features like a heads-up display and gesture controls found in the M Sport, it still offers a lot of value. I believe the balance between style and functionality will make this model a strong contender in the market.

The new BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine is equipped with a 2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo diesel engine mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in 7.9 seconds and has a top speed of 213 km/hr. However, it misses out on the Dynamic Damper control available in the M Sport variant. I think the performance and handling will still be impressive despite this omission.

BMWs decision to continue offering a diesel powertrain in the X3 xDrive20d xLine is strategic, given the competition from vehicles like the Volvo XC60 and Audi Q5, which do not offer diesel options. This move could attract buyers who prefer diesel engines for their fuel efficiency and power. I believe this will give BMW an edge in the Indian market where diesel SUVs are still popular.

The BMW X3 xDrive20d xLine is priced Rs. 20,000 higher than the outgoing X3 Luxury Edition and comes with features like electric folding exterior mirrors, a panoramic glass roof, and a high-quality sound system. The vehicle also has aluminium-finished roof rails and 19-inch alloys. I think the slight price increase is justified by the additional features and improvements.
