BMW i8 Hybrid Updates

BMW has revealed sketches of the i16, a shelved successor to the BMW i8, through the companys Head of Design, Domagoj Dukec. The i16 was developed from the 2019 Vision M Next concept and featured a composite structure similar to the i8, along with aggressive styling and a more capable chassis. Unfortunately, the project was shelved due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I believe this design would have been a stunning addition to BMWs lineup, and its a shame it never made it to production.

The upcoming 2026 BMW i8 M is set to redefine the hybrid sports car market with a significant increase in power and electric driving range. The i8 M will feature a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, producing a total output of 591 horsepower. It is expected to have a longer electric driving range, possibly up to 62 miles, and advanced driver-assistance features.
