Yamaha SR400 is currently not available in India. Its retro appeal and use of modern technology makes it a good one for everyday riding. it is powered by a 399 cc, single cylinder engine producing 22.9 BHP and 27.4 Nm of torque. The fuel injected machine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and reaches a top speed of 129 kmph. the certified fuel economy for the bike is 28.78 kmpl while it is expected to be priced around INR 4 lakh, when brought into India. SR400 uses spoke wheels and weighs around 174 kg when filled with fuel.

Yamaha is focusing mainly on its line of sport bikes. The reason behind being the introduction of many new bikes and brands in the entry level and middle weight section of bikes. Yamaha has the R15 as its competitor for the entry level ones, but the all new 200 to 400 cc segment has made its curiosity into that race section. The SR400 is an all time beauty and may get launched anytime as it will have Royal Enfield bikes as its competitors.
