Tata Indica Vista was first launched by Tata to compete with Maruti Swift and to overcome their image as taxi or cab manufacturers due to Indica but it had failed to do so. So, Tata launched Vista again by dropping Indica from its name and adding some new features to attract Indian customers. It is a B+ segment hatchback.
Tata Vista has a newer and stylish exterior which includes large five-layer chromed front grille with a full size Tata logo, large front bumper with chrome linings, chrome surrounded fog lights, multi-chambered headlights, body colored side mouldings and door handles with chrome linings, body colored outside rear view mirrors, sporty roof antenna, sporty dual toned 14-inch eight spoke alloy wheels, black colored plastic strip below rear glass, tall tail lamps sporty rear wiper. It has a large wheelbase of 2470mm. It has a length of 3795mm, width of 1695mm and height of 1550mm as its dimension and has a kerb weight of 1135kgs.
The inside of Tata Vista looks beautiful with dual toned beige and black interiors, improved plastic quality, good fabric quality and most spacious in its segment with large space for head room, shoulder room and knee room. It provides a comfortable environment to its passengers with its wide and adjustable seats, height adjustable driver seat, adjustable power steering with audio controls, power windows, key-less entry, powerful AC with Automatic Climate Control System, rear wiper and demister and a digital clock. It has a dual toned spacious dashboard with central AC vents and instrument console above it, beige surrounded central console with other controls and a large glove box. The hatchback also has a storage tray under front passenger's seat and has a boot capacity of 232 litres. Its fuel tank capacity is 37 litres. It has a quality 2-DIN music system with CD player, MP3 player, FM Radio, USB port, AUX-in, Bluetooth connectivity, four speakers and two tweeters for a fully enjoyable and entertaining ride.
Tata Vista has four engine options, one of petrol and three of diesel. The 1172cc 1.2L Safire65 petrol engine has a maximum power of 64 bhp at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 96 Nm at 3000 rpm giving a top speed of 135 kmph and reaches 0-100kmph mark in more than 17 seconds and gives an average mileage of 13 kmpl. The 1248cc 1.3L Quadra-jet has a maximum power of 74 bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 190 Nm at 1750-3000 rpm giving the top speed of over 150kmph and reaches 0-100kmph mark in under 15 seconds and gives an average mileage of 18kmpl. The 1405cc 1.4L TDi BS-III diesel engine has a maximum power of 70 Bhp at 4500 rpm and a maximum torque of 135 Nm at 2500 rpm giving a top speed of 155 kmph and reaches 0-100kmph mark in above 17 seconds and gives an average mileage of 16 kmpl. The third diesel engine is 1248cc Multijet, which generates maximum power of 89 bhp with maximum torque of 200 nm.
For the utmost safety of its passengers, it has Dual front SRS Airbags, remote central locking, collapsible steering column, engine immobilizer, ABS with EBD and rear wiper and defogger. It has disk brakes at front and drum brakes at rear. The suspension system is an independent McPherson strut type at front and semi-independent coil at rear. It has a good ground clearance of 165mm to keep the vehicle on road at high speeds and minimum turning radius of 5.0m for easy cruising in city traffic.
Tata Vista has nine variants which are Quadrajet LS, Quadrajet VX, TDi LX, TDi LS, Safire65 GLS, Safire65 GLX, Safire65 GVX, D90 VX and D90 ZX+. It has six beautiful shades which are Summer Sparkle, Spice Red, Cavern Grey, Arctic Silver, Porcelain White and Brilliant Blue. It has a price range between INR 4.11-6.83 lakhs (ex-showroom (approx., may vary)). Overall, this hatchback seems like a good combination of space, comfort and price, lacking in performance in petrol variants but diesel variants performance overwhelms many other hatchbacks and with such a spacious body and low price, it can attract Indian customers.
