Synopsis

Honda Motor Company, Limited is a world renowned Japanese public multinational corporation which deals primarily in the manufacturing of motorcycles and automobiles. It was founded in Hamamatsu, Japan on September 24, 1948 by Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa and has since then excelled itself magnificently in various fields. It has been the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles since 1959 along with internal combustion engines. Also, it became the second largest automobile manufacturer of Japan in 2001 and eighth largest of the world in 2011. It also deals in a lot of other manufacturing fields such as marine engines, garden equipment, power generators, personal watercraft, water pumps, jet aircraft and engines, tillers, robotics and many more. It has its current headquarters in Minato, Tokyo, Japan.

Honda Cars India Ltd. is an Indian subsidiary of Honda which deals in the production, marketing and export of passenger cars in India with its headquarters in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. It started its operations in December 1995 in India as a joint venture with Usha International of Siddharth Shriram Group and was named Honda Siel Cars India Ltd., maintaining this venture until August 2012. After that, it changed its name to Honda Cars India Ltd. and became a 100% subsidiary of Honda Motor Company, Limited. It has two manufacturing facilities in India, in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh and in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.

Recently, Honda has unveiled the production version of its Urban SUV, Honda Vezel at 2013 Tokyo Motor Show on November 19, 2013 which was first showcased as a concept version at Detroit Motor Show in January 2013. This brand new compact SUV will be launched in Japan and will arrive in European market in 2015. It is also expected to be available in India by 2015 due to increasing competition in compact SUV segment in Indian market. It will arrive in Japan in a petrol (1.5L direct injection engine) and a hybrid model. The hybrid model will feature the Sport Hybrid i-DCD (Intelligent Dual Clutch Drive) which means a 1.5L direct injection petrol engine in combination with a high output electric motor. However, the Indian release will get a petrol (1.5L i-VTEC motor) and a diesel model (1.5L i-DTEC motor). Also, its Indian model is expected to make its debut at Auto Expo in New Delhi in February 2014. Vezel is a part of Honda's Global Compact Series which already include the famous Jazz.

Design and Style

Honda Vezel is based on the same platform as of 2014 Honda Jazz. But, it has got some truly unique features of its own like Exciting H Design in its front fascia. It includes a rear sloping roof line and some sharp body lines as its bigger sibling CR-V, coupe-like styling, hidden rear door handles in the rear window sill and C-pillar, sleek headlamps that flows into the front grille, muscular rear haunches, body colored ORVMs, stylish alloy wheels and large tail lamps to create a cloud of awesomeness and magnificence around it. The wheelbase will be 4300mm approximately. Its interior has not been revealed much but from the one official picture, it shows a fair amount of space, stylish dashboard, CR-V type steering wheel, driver oriented central console, 2014 Jazz based instrument cluster, air-con vents as a large strip on the front passenger side instead of circular or rectangular ones, centrally mounted fuel tank, Honda magic seats, flat floor and many more features to take your breath away. The engines are expected to be the same 1.5L i-DTEC mill from Amaze for the diesel model and same 1.5L i-VTEC from City for the petrol model.

Variants and Shades

Honda Vezel will be available in both petrol and diesel variants in a wide range of beautiful shades at the expected ex-showroom, Delhi prices of INR 11 lakhs for petrol model and INR 12 lakhs for diesel models which may vary.

Questions and Answers

Most Popular Answers for Honda Vezel
Is Honda Vezel coming to India or NOT?
29 December 2022 05:40

Honda Vezel is lying in the no launch category of vehicle by Honda in India. The basic reason behind the same being the availability of Honda Mobilio and the Indian announced BR-V. Also known as HR-V in many countries, the Vezel would not suit the category where it would be launched and for the same reason, many other manufacturer's like Toyota are also declaring many products as not made for India. Vezel comes with a petrol motor in other countries whereas if it was made for India, it would have got the same 1.5 L diesel motor, powering all the others in the segment.

What is the ground clearance of Honda Vezel?
29 December 2022 05:40
Honda Vezel has not yet been launched by the company and the dimensions revealed for the car are 4294 mm of length, 1772 mm of width and 2610 mm of height. The Vezel's wheelbase is expected to be 2600 mm. It comes with a good design and has not been currently launched in India. The engine being expected is the one which is being used on Honda Jazz and City, the 1.5 L earth dreams motor. It would be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, with lesser chances of automatic transmission to be offered on diesel engine. The price is expected to start from INR 10,00,000 and the car would make a good change from traditional SUV's like Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio.
