Even though both Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova belong to MUV segment but they can’t be straight compared in term of look and feel as Innova is much bigger and powerful than Ertiga. But on technical front they can’t be easily brushed off. Look wise nobody stands out as Ertiga has polished look with Swift-derived interiors and Innova has dated design.

Ertiga looks less powerful with its 89 bhp output from 1.3-litre diesel motor. A hefty 12 bhp lesser than that of 102 bhp produced by Toyota Innova’s 2.5-litre engine. Though Innova is more powerful but it offers mileage of only 13 kmpl less than that of Ertiga’s 20.77 kmpl. The Innova features 300 litres of boot space with folded seats whereas Ertiga supports 135 litres boot space and has a third row that folds flat. Innova offers more space in terms of shoulder room and headroom as it is 65 X 75 X 10 i.e. wider, taller and longer than the Ertiga.

The 2012 Innova is freshened up with new headlamps, a radiator grille, wider windscreen and new clear tail lamp cluster. While Ertiga has got sporty grills, peeled out headlamps, chunky wheel arches and slightly raised shoulder line. The Maruti Ertiga ZDI is available at INR 8,63,158 lakh which is Rs. 51,000 cheaper than the Innova E variant’s INR 9,14,231(both ex-showroom Delhi dec 2012).
