General information and overview

The Yamaha Majesty 125 is a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected maxi-scooter powered by a 125cc single-cylinder engine delivering around 11.4 bhp and 9 Nm of torque managed by a smooth CVT automatic transmission. It features a well-sized frame with a length over 2 meters and weighs 148 kg, equipped with disc brakes on both ends for enhanced stopping power. Its design focuses on rider comfort, with a spacious seat, ergonomic positioning, and practical storage options. The scooter sports alloy wheels and a contemporary look with clean styling cues. Although it lacks ABS, it caters well to urban commuters looking for a stylish, reliable ride with subtle performance advantages over typical 110-125cc scooters. It occupies a niche aiming at riders seeking maxi-scooter refinement in a 125cc package suited to Indian roads and traffic conditions.

The Yamaha Majesty 125 is a four-stroke, 125cc automatic scooter featuring a CVT gearbox designed for smooth urban rides. It produces 11.4 Bhp at 9000 rpm and 9 Nm torque at 8500 rpm, balancing adequate power delivery for city commuting. The scooter sports alloy wheels and disc brakes on both front and rear, although it lacks ABS, which is a notable omission for safety. Weighing around 148 kg with dimensions 2030mm in length and 745mm in width, it is compact yet comfortable for daily use. The Majesty has a straightforward, functional design emphasizing practicality, including decent ground clearance and ergonomic seating. While advanced features such as fuel injection and smart connectivity are absent, its traditional four-stroke engine ensures reliability and acceptable maintenance costs. The scooter is well-suited for Indian city roads and short highway stretches, targeting buyers looking for convenience, ease of ride, and Yamaha's badge of quality within a modest budget.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

The Yamaha Majesty stands out as a stylish maxi-scooter option for Indian riders who want a comfortable urban cruiser with a powerful single-cylinder engine. It offers a refined 125cc liquid-cooled engine that delivers decent power and torque, complemented by automatic CVT transmission for ease in city traffic. Although it lacks features like ABS, the scooter balances performance and practicality well, with disc brakes front and rear and alloy wheels adding to safety and aesthetics. Its spacious dimensions and comfortable seating height make it suitable for longer rides and daily commuting. However, the absence of advanced tech and relatively higher weight compared to some peers may deter those looking for ultra-light scooters. Overall, it caters best to buyers prioritizing smooth performance, premium vibes, and practical storage rather than outright sportiness or the lowest price point.

The Yamaha Majesty 125 stands out as a stylish and practical urban scooter, delivering a smooth ride with its 125cc four-stroke automatic CVT engine producing 11.4 Bhp and 9 Nm torque. Its lightweight alloy wheels, combined with disc brakes front and rear, lend confidence in city traffic, although the absence of ABS might be a consideration for safety-conscious buyers. The Majesty’s automatic transmission makes it extremely user-friendly, especially for beginners or those wanting a hassle-free commute. Its dimensions are well-suited for maneuvering Indian city roads. However, the lack of modern features such as fuel injection or advanced tech might make it feel slightly dated compared to competitors. Overall, the Majesty is a capable scooter offering a good balance of comfort and performance for daily urban use but may face stiff competition from newer, feature-rich models in this segment.

Recent news and announcements

Yamaha has announced minor updates for the Majesty scooter in 2024, including new color schemes and slight tweaks to the instrument cluster. The updates aim to keep the scooter fresh in the market without significant changes to its performance. I think these updates will help maintain its appeal to commuters.

In an effort to comply with stricter emissions standards, Yamaha has been working on improving the fuel efficiency of the Majesty. This includes optimizing the engine and transmission for better mileage, which is expected to be a major selling point in fuel-conscious markets like India.
September 20, 2024
There is speculation that future models of the Yamaha Majesty might include advanced safety features such as ABS brakes and traction control. Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the Yamaha Majesty 125 is expected to be positioned as a premium small-capacity maxi-scooter and is priced approximately between ₹1.25 lakh to ₹1.4 lakh ex-showroom, depending on the city. On-road prices could range upward of ₹1.4 lakh to ₹1.6 lakh due to taxes, insurance, and registration costs varying by state. This price segment puts it slightly above entry-level scooters but well below the 150cc maxi-scooter rivals like the Majesty S 155, which is currently not launched here but expected to cost around ₹2.4 lakh if localized. The Majesty 125’s pricing aligns it as a niche product focused on urban riders who want premium features and style in a 125cc format, rather than competing directly with budget scooters. Its positioning signals Yamaha’s targeting of buyers looking for a refined, comfortable ride with quality finishings rather than bargain pricing.
December 8, 2025
In India, the Yamaha Majesty 125 is not currently listed with an official price as it has been discontinued in many markets, including India, and replaced by newer variants and models. Historical pricing indicated an ex-showroom price range around Rs 70,000 to Rs 90,000, with on-road prices in metro cities often crossing Rs 1 lakh after taxes, insurance, and registration. As an Indian buyer, this price point positioned the Majesty in the affordable scooter segment, offering value in terms of build quality and reliability from Yamaha. However, given its discontinuation, availability mostly is through used vehicle markets, where pricing depends on condition and locality. If Yamaha reintroduces a similar variant or India-specific model, the competitive pricing would need to consider the rising demand for fuel efficiency and feature-packed scooters in this segment to appeal effectively.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

Mileage for the Yamaha Majesty 125 in Indian road conditions typically ranges around 35-40 km/l, considering its liquid-cooled 125cc engine and CVT setup. While not the highest in segment mileage, it offers a good balance of performance and fuel efficiency, making it a reasonable choice for riders concerned about running costs without sacrificing torque and refinement needed for city and occasional highway use.
December 8, 2025
The Yamaha Majesty 125 provides mileage figures in the range of 45 to 50 kmpl under Indian city and highway conditions, which is decent for a 125cc scooter with disc brakes front and rear. This mileage is practical enough for daily commuting, keeping running costs relatively low and making it an economical choice for users prioritizing fuel efficiency without compromising on performance and ease of use in urban traffic.

Commuters are now preferring scooter for its comfort in driving & multi utility options. At present scooter have the age old style and pattern. There are f commuters alike me who expect a scooter with big wheels, good mileage & obviously should be cool in style. We still are brand conscious (like honda, hero , yamaha ,TVS , Mahindra still need to work hard to penetrate the scooter/bike segment ).. New vehicles as Yamaha Majesty , Honda PCX, Yamaha X-Max fit with my requirement .. let see when they are releasing these birds.
