Hero Leap Hybrid Scooter to Launch in 2015

The famous name in two-wheeler segment, Hero Motocorp is planning to launch the new hybrid scooter 'Leap' in the Indian market. It is India's first electric hybrid scooter which is expected to be launch in 2015. It was first showcased at the Delhi Motor Show held in 2012 and then per-production version of Leap scooter was appeared in January 2014, where MD and CEO of the company, Pawan Munjal stated, "The Leap will be first launched in the global markets, mainly the western geographies and then brought to India."

The main motto of the company to launch Hero Leap Hybrid Concept in foreign land first is that, they want to see the response it will get there. The manufacturing of the leap will take place in Gurgaon Plant of Hero, where around 6000 units per annum will be produced first to check the market reaction. The figure could rise later, according to the demand.

Talking about the features of Leap, it is powered by a 124cc engine with 8KW electric motor and automatic gear transmission. The electric motor comes with a Li-ion battery. The petrol capacity its engine have is 3-litres which is used as the range extender.  The expected top speed of the scooter is 100kph when running on range extender petrol engine.

Stopping power to the leap is provided by a 240mm diameter single disc brake on its front wheel and 130mm drum brake at rear wheel. In addition to this hybrid scooter, the company is also expected to launch 110cc 'Dash' scooter in August 2014. While the 125cc Dare will be launch in November, 2014. These scooter will definitely grab the attentions of male customers.
