BMW Motorrad is recalling its 2012 BMW S1000RR superbike from US due to connecting rod issues. BMW stated that models affected were built from Sept. 2011 to April 2012. In official statement the company has said that it’s a manufacturing error. The side-stand bolts may become loose during high engine temperatures or high-engine operating speeds that could result in engine damage.

The event of engine damage will increase the risk of a crash. Under the recall dealers will clean the side-stand mounting plate threads and replace the side-stand bolts, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 2013 in US.
