Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Review

09 Nov, 2023 04:03 PM

Detailed Review by Maxabout Team

Overview

The BS6-compliant model of the Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon was launched in the Indian markets in April 2020. The entry-level motorcycle in the Pulsar series was first introduced back in August 2019. The bike is available in the two variants. Currently, the drum brake variant of the bike is priced at INR 81,389, and the disc brake variant is priced at INR 84,013. Bajaj’s Pulsar series has remained the iconic moniker for the brand and it is also one of the top-selling motorcycle series in the country.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Design & Style

The BS6 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon takes its design traits from its 150cc sibling, the Pulsar 150 Neon. It features the same iconic design language with a similar headlight setup. It is styled with infinity twin-strip LED tail lamps. The bike has the same fuel tank design as the 150cc model. It gets striking neon highlights on the tank, grab-rail, and black alloys. The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon features the class-leading and sporty clip-on handlebars. The Neon colour and graphics with neon accents on the bike offers it a dynamic look and it also has a colour-coordinated Pulsar logo.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Engine & Gearbox

The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon is powered by a BS6-compliant 124.4cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that churns out 11.8HP of maximum power at 8500 rpm along with 10.8Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike comes equipped with a fuel injection system. It now gets an extra catalytic converter to comply with the more stringent BS6 emission norms that came into effect from April 1, 2020. Despite the BS6 update, the output figures for the 125cc model remain unchanged.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Instrument Console

The 2024 Pulsar 125 Neon comes featured with a digital-analog console. It has an engine kill switch button, with headlamps control buttons on the left. It has an RPM metre with rpm limit indicator, a tachometer, a speedometer, two trip metres, odometer, and a fuel-indicator on the left. It also gets a battery indicator. Overall, the bike gets a decent instrument console that displays every essential information required.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Dimensions, Mileage, and Top Speed

Going by the dimensions for the 125cc bike, it measures 2055mm in length, 755mm in width, and 1060mm in height. It has a seat height of 790mm which is quite fair and has a wheelbase of 1320mm. The BS6 Pulsar 125 Neon has a ground clearance of 165mm, which is good considering that it is a commuter motorcycle. The bike will provide mileage between 50-55 kmpl depending upon the driving. The top speed offered by the bike is around 105 kmph. Being a city commuter, the bike is pretty good considering its fuel-efficiency.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Brakes & Suspension

The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon rides on a double-cradle frame. The suspension duties of the bike are handled by telescopic forks with anti-friction bushes at the front and 5-step adjustable Nitrox rear shock absorbers at the rear. The motorcycle is designed in a way to provide you the utmost comfort with its upright seating position, and smooth suspension. The stopping power of the bike comes from a 240mm ventilated front disc brake with a 130mm rear drum brake. The tubeless tyres add to the strength and stability of the bike. Its Combined Braking System (CBS) technology will provide the rider with more safe braking performance on any surface.

Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Colours & Graphics

The entry-level motorcycle in the Pulsar series, the New Pulsar 125 Neon is available in three colour combinations: Black Solar Red, Black Silver, and Pewter Grey. The Neon colour and graphics have Neon accents that provide the bike with a distinguished look. However, it looks exactly similar to its 150cc sibling, the Pulsar 150cc Neon. Each variant of the bike has a colour-coordinated Pulsar logo and grab rail.

Verdict and Competitors of Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon

Apart from the addition of a BS6-compliant engine, the 2024 Pulsar 125 remains unchanged. Though it gets a fuel-injection and an extra catalytic converter to make the bike BS6 compliant. If a person is a daily commuter then Pulsar 125 Neon is indeed a bike to consider upon. Coming to the rivals, it competes in the Indian market with the likes of Hero Passion Pro, Honda Shine 125, and TVS Raider 125.

Motorcycles are not cell phones. They need to have durability. When someone invest more than 1.5 lacs he is expecting a motorcycle which will run smooth for at least 5 yrs without basic maintenance. I spent more than 50k to maintain my RS200 in 3.5 Yrs finally with a heavy heart sold it off. Very very poor built quality of bajaj. I am really disappointed. I loved my bike so much. But for such a poor built quality I had to sell it off.
